I am considering booking a Poly concierge LV room not for the snacks or for the service but for the view. I have seen other DISer's photos & comments and to me it would be worth the extra money for a once in a lifetime vacation.

What is now concerning me though, is in all the recent threads of concierge, no one has mentioned the view. Is the beautiful view of the castle & the fireworks, that some of you experienced, not standard?

Here is my extensive post of the subject. Enjoy!

THe view from our room was the best in WDW as far as I am concerned. If you did not want to pay for concierge there are great lagoon views in Tuvalu and Tahiti and even some in Aotearoa. Hawaii LV rooms give you a great view and you are close to many things along with all concierge has to offer but I would say that out of all the things we like about staying in Hawaii lagoon view the snacks are the last thing on the list. Not because they are not great (because they are) but because there is so many other things that we love about it.

You can see view photos on my link below.

Thank you very much to both CaipiraBob & Tikiman, your pages are very informative and helped a lot!

No problem. You know the reason I say don’t worry is because you are going through what I did before I ever stayed at the Polynesian. I had no idea what anything looked like and I wondered if getting a lagoon view was worth the money or how bad would a garden view be. Well I decided from the beginning that I would do the lagoon view to give me a better chance of a good view. Well I was right and I got places in Moorea (now called Tahiti) and I have been hooked on lagoon view ever since. There are tons of great garden views but I never feel I need to request a location when I book a lagoon view because the chances are I will get a great room with my lagoon view reservation. I will say that one year I was placed in one of the few rooms in Tahiti that looked right at a palm tree top so as soon as I saw my view was not great I asked nicely if there were any other rooms available. They moved us over into Tuvalu and the view was great.

Because it was so hard for me to get a good feel about the Polynesian before I had stayed there and there was no info out there other than the two photos in the AAA brochure I decided to create my web pages to give people a better idea of what to expect.

Have a great trip.

Aloha

Not to knock the Poly (we were just there in Dec.) but have you thought about the Contemporary? If you are looking for a great view then this may be the way to go and save a little $ in the process. IMO the MK view at the CR tower is much better than at Poly. You are closer and you have the added advantage of walking to MK. Just a thought.
BTW Tikiman, I love your website. We utilized it for our Dec. trip and had a lagoon view CL room. It was wonderful! :goodvibes

Thanks Ergens2. That is a good point. The Contemporary tower rooms have a great view if you are on the MK side. I think many are looking for the feel of the resort also so that may be the deciding factor on which to pick but it was a good point.

Aloha

Ergens2: I didn't know about the view at Contempoary I will certainly keep that in mind for future trips. But as Tikiman guessed I chose Poly for the whole experience. Like many people I've only had the opportunity to stay at value & moderate hotels in the past and have always said "When I can afford it I'm going to stay at the Polynesian." Paying extra for the view was only an afterthought.

Tikiman: I understand from these boards that I *might* get a great view with a non-concierge room but I'm nervous to take the chance that I wouldn't get a proverbal "room with a view" without paying the extra.

I would pay for the view! Nothing is more magical than opening the curtains and viewing the castle directly across the lake from you. For me that is the highlight of the Poly concierage. I would often stay up late or get up early to sit out on the balcony and watch the castle change colors. It is so quiet that it feels like you are getting your own private piece of the magic!

I should add, unless it's been mentioned already, the 2nd floor does NOT HAVE BALCONIES.

That may make a big difference.

We enjoy the third floor because of the privacy. On the first floor you have beach access and the people passing by have "Your Room View". On the other hand it's easy for the kids to open the door and hit the beach any time. We enjoyed the third floor becuase of the balcony and because everyone could just relax as they were if I decided to open the curtains.

Enjoy!

I chose the concierge building MAINLY for the view and LOCATION of the building itself. We were supposed to stay at the Polynesian last September but due to Hurricane Frances we were "stuck" ;) on a boat with a big Mouse for a few extra days! Anyway, while planning that trip, initially I had us booked with JUST a lagoon view, not concierge, and I was making myself nuts trying to figure out the best view and building location. I eventually changed it to concierge lagoon because I love the location of the Hawaii building, and the view if gives.

So yes, some people DO book Polynesian lagoon concierge just for view/location :) Secondly, I am enjoying the pre-planning services, thirdly I like the idea of beverages being available through the day, and lastly, the food. :teeth:
