Poly CL vs GF 1 bedroom Villa?

We are heading down for our 3rd trip to WDW in early October. We will be there 8 days/7 nights with our 3 kids (7,6,3). We've stayed at Poly before and really enjoyed the monorail/TTC access, resort, and pool. We plan to have a more relaxed trip and probably hit each park once (MK twice), MNSSHP one day, and pool/waterpark days the rest of the time with an evening or two at Epcot to enjoy F&W.

We are trying to choose between CL Poly Garden View vs a 1 bedroom lake view villa at Villas of GF. I am leaning towards Poly because we've enjoyed it so much in the past but the GF is tempting for all of the extra space and being able to have a room just for myself and husband and kids separate in the living room. The only things that hold me back from GF are the transportation (is it a long walk to monorails?) and pools....will my kids like as much as the Poly pool & I'm guessing it's a lot longer haul to walk there vs at CL Poly where you walk right out of the building and have access to 2 big pools.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Would you be using the VGF kitchen to cook? Or would you rather have the Club Lounge to pop over to for coffee and snacks?

Relative to your kids, I can almost guarantee the kids would find Club Lounge access more fun than a kitchen.

True., good point. If we did the villa I might keep breakfast or lunch stuff in the room but don't plan on any hard core cooking.

I'd go with club level - it's nice to have the lounge area to have drinks & snacks. It would make the vacation much more relaxing, and the adults feel more pampered.

VGF 1BR is spectacular. VGF building is right next to a great pool with long water slide, and close to kids pool and adult pool. Walk to monorail is shorter than walk from Poly Moorea to resort monorail, and is a covered walk.

You can't go wrong either way, but if you have never tried VGF, I recommend it.

Having done both I would pick GF 1BR villa. What better way to relax than to have a "home" to go rather than a hotel room? Even if you only use the kitchen for snacks its great having a full size fridge and having a living room to relax in. I love having a washer/dryer in the villa. I think walk to the monorail at GF is closer than walk to TTC from Poly. MK was easy with monorail to MK (first stop) and boat back (first stop). I drove to the other parks. I didn't use pools at GF but the Alice in Wonderland splash area looks way more fun than anything at Poly and not too far from villas.

I never really wanted to stay at GF but had the chance to use my DVC points there in June. I've stayed at CR CL, Poly CL, BWI CL, AKL CL, YC, POR, POFQ all values, OKW, AKV, BWV, BLT. The service at VGF was awesome! Not that I needed much but they were just a notch above the rest. The villas are really beautiful. I also liked food options at the quick service at GF better than Poly.

Thanks for all of the replies. Leaning towards Villas at GF now since it seems like distance to monorails and pool might not be an issue. And the bathroom in the villa looks really nice too

I would say you can't go wrong with either. There are pros/cons of both that probably cancel each other out at the big picture level. I drink the kool-aid when it comes to Poly CL, probably our favorite place to stay at WDW (lounge, views, steps to both pools, quick walk to TTC, etc). For me, I don't want to even think about buying/preparing food, even if it's something simple, when on vacation. That's one reason why we enjoy CL... for the convenience of a quick bite, drink, or snack. That being said, I can see how a bit more space at a GF Villa would be nice for a longer stay like yours and with five people. (Note, I have stayed at GF but not in a villa)

But if you need any nudging to reconsider Poly CL, here's the view from the lounge (taken 2 weeks ago).

Again, I don't think you can go wrong. Good luck with your planning!

Is this for October 2016? Do you have that one bedroom GFV already booked? If not, you won't get it.

Think about how much you would use the club level or not... Do you like having a full table service breakfast instead of a continental breakfast? Would you be there at night for the 5:00-7:00pm appetizers? Would you take advantage of the evening cordials 8-10:00pm? If you would use most of these things, then I say Poly club level. You won't have your own bedroom but you can use the lounge to spread out if someone wakes up before the other and get some space and it would be nice to have the food and treatment from the club level. Poly CL is my favorite!

Also.. Do you plan to go to Epcot a lot? You can grab a direct monorail from the TTC which is nice.

Well said. :thumbsup2
