Credit and thanks to Tikiman for providing this latest update on the changes going on at the Poly. On his website, he shows us an artists rendering of the proposed lobby layout sans our beloved waterfall, and also a few snapshots of the proposed Trader Sams. Tikiman also confirms that the resorts name will officially revert back to the Polynesian Village Resort. Additionally, "Adventureland" style designs will be more prominent throughout the resort as was originally intended. You can read the full update here:

Thanks for the post-- New things are always exciting for us.... So in the trader sams pics-- are the pearl cocktails going to magically appear in the clam shell? It would seem that way from the pics.

any idea or "official" opening date for Trader Sams at WDW?

Trader Sam's at DL is our absolute favorite thing there!

wondering when they are projecting the doors for the WDW version will be open.
we are going early 2015 and hope we can experience it

No date announced I would expect sometime late this year or early next year with it now announced.

The inside still seems to have a Polynesian feel, and the waterfall sign looks like it might be nice. Trader Sams will be fun and fit with the Poly theming. So far, I'm okay if it looks like the arists renderings posted here. I would really like to see a rendition of what the face of the resort is going to look like as you enter now though. I still get sad every time we enter the DLH from the front, as the face now looks like a generic chain hotel, without the classic Disney touches which were all removed and the giant Mickey statue which DD loved so much and was always our first and last picture at DL. Hopefully the Poly will still be beautiful and have the right feel, even though they are removing some things.

I'll miss the waterfall in the lobby but like the changes being made!

I'm holding out hope that the overall changes to the resort will be beautiful and well-received, but I am still in disbelief over the waterfall. While not quite as drastic, it's not far off to equate this to Disney knocking down Spaceship Earth at EPCOT. Whatever you could replace it with, it will not be the same, nor will it be as good as what you previously had. I understand the on-going maintenance issues that the waterfall presented, but with all of the time, money and other changes going on at the resort, I cannot figure out for the life of me why they can not come up with some way to resolve the ongoing issues while either preserving, down-scaling, or re-building the waterfall with an improved design. While still inviting as depicted, the lobby will never be the same. I really hope that Disney is listening (fat chance, right?), and comes up with some happy-medium between what we currently have today and what is pictured above.

Is there any news to 100% yeah or nay on adding a hot tub?

I am holding off buying BC incase Poly has a hot tub, but if I hear 100% no hot tub, I am buying BC on resale instead now, instead of waiting for the Poly.

As far as I know they will be getting one similar to the infinity hot tub in Aulani. This is from the tikiman things change all the time so it's not guaranteed but likely.

That hot tub at Aulani is certainly one of my happy places... we even chose to forego some of our wedding photo shoot because we wanted to enjoy the sunset from there instead of having to get out and get dressed for photos since the clouds didn't cooperate the day before. Still no regrets!

DO YOU HAVE A PIC?

And I can settle on a likely!!!!!! I want to own at the POLY, and to be honest stay there, but I refused everytime so far due to the lack of a hot tub. !

They have started to wall off the lobby at the poly. They have started on the second floor.
