I requested a room in Samoa last time I was at the Poly but had no luck. I requested when I booked and then again when I arrived.

Have any of you had luck and did you do anything different?

I'm going again this summer and requested Samoa. Not getting the building I want won't in any way ruin the vacation. We'll have a blast no matter what! But getting a room in the Samoa building would be a treat!

We have requested either Tokelau or Somoa for our last 3 trips and got Somoa once and Tokelau twice. Each of those times I had them note it on our reservation at the time we made them. We usually go in early October when it isn't very busy so that may be why we have had such good luck. Good luck to you this time!

We got Samoa both times that we requested it..although not the first floor facing the volcano pool that we would have prefered but just to be in that location was important to us.

We requested Samoa once and Tokelau once. Requests were met both times.

1st visit, 20 years ago, we didn't know anything about requesting buildings. I think we ended up in what is now Samoa.

2nd visit, 2006, we requested Fiji, Tokelau or Samoa and ended up in Aerotora. We hated that room since it had a giant tree totally blocking any view from our balcony. The next day we were able to be switched to a great room in Fiji.

3rd visit, 2007, again we requested Fiji, Tokelau or Samoa and we were upgraded to MK view in Tuvalu. Definitely loved that room!

For our upcoming visit, July 2008, we requested the same three building and we'll see what we get!

I always make my longhouse request at the time I make my reservation. A few times I faxed a follow-up request directly to the resort about 4-5 before arrival but I haven't done that in several years.

There was only 1 time that I didn't get the longhouse I requested.

We requested Tokelau and got something else facing the parking lot on the first floor. We very nicely went back and found a different CM, he called the manager and got us in Tokelau. We had some key/building confusion but the bellhop worked it out for us. We were two rooms from the MK end of the building so the castle was the first thing we saw when we left the room and the last thing we saw when we came back. We were also able to sneak out and see Wishes while DD, 7 mo at the time, slept soundly in her crib. :goodvibes

Good Luck. And don't be afraid to ask (NICELY) for a change to what you want. The worst they can say is no.

We've stayed at Poly 3 times and all 3 ended up with our requests.
The second time... we had arrived early and they were going to give us a different room than we requested, but when I said we would wait for our request they were very accomadating..... So our request was granted... we had to wait till about 2 in the afternoon.. but it was fine, we just went to MK for till it was ready.
:goodvibes

After two stays at the Poly, one stay we got our request (Samoa, volcano pool view) and on another stay we didn't get our request (Tahiti was full, we wound up in Tuvalu with a laoon view :cloud9: ). For both stays I had my TA note my building preference on the reservation and the CM took the time to look them up and confirm my requests with me before seeing if they could honor them.

I didn't send a fax or anything. :thumbsup2

We have always requested Tahiti and were always assigned a room in that building. It all depends on what is available at check-in, sometimes you luck out other times you do not. Like the op have said you can always ask for another building, but for the most part they all have their own pros and cons.
