Poly, BC, or CR?

I'm planning my family's first trip to WDW. We have been to DLR and enjoy staying at the Disneyland Hotel. It is for myself, DH, and our DS6, DD4, and DD2 for late August 2016.

Was leaning towards CR or BC, but have found a good offer and now have thrown Poly into the mix. What would you recommend for our family?

We will be using Disney transfers, no car and will have a double stroller. We will likely spend some time by the pool and won't be doing rope drop to close at the parks. We may want to take an afternoon break, but it's not a deal breaker when picking a resort. We plan to visit all of the parks, but I imagine MK will be our first stop.

I would go with a monorail resort (Poly or CR). The rooms are larger than those at BC, and transportation with a stroller is easier on the monorail (compared to the buses).

If you are looking for a great pool BC is the way to go. It is also the closest to Epcot. If you want to be close to MK stay at CR they don't have a bad pool but it is good. The poly is not a bad option either if looking at an MK resort.

You say your first stop is MK but how many times do you plan to visit. If most of your time is going to be spent there, I would say Poly. If Epcot and HS are in the mix, I'd go BC - kids love the pool and the resort is walking distance to Epcot and a boat away from HS.

I'd go with Poly. Monorail to both MK and EP. Plus, I don't think you'd want the large pool complex at BC with 3 kids at those ages. It would be too easy to lose track of them.

I'd go with Poly or CR. While the BC pool is great, you have little kids. It is not a great pool for little kids.

Poly and CR have splash areas and zero entry water play areas that are much better with that age range.

We've never stayed at the CR but have stayed at both the Poly and BC and my choice would be the Poly. The rooms are much larger than at the BC, all rooms come with a daybed, the pool is great as it backs up to the beach with the ability to watch the fireworks while swimming, and you are a quick monorail ride away from a variety of great dining options at the GF and CR. Also, the Poly is just 2 monorail stops from MK and it's a short 5-7 minute walk to the TTC to catch the Epcot monorail. The BC is a nice resort and I'm glad we were able to try SAB, but as others have said, it is spread out and is sometimes hard to navigate with little ones. With that said, we weren't wow'd by SAB and prefer other resort pools (with the Poly being our favorite). Good luck with your decision.

Yes, Mickeynut1 pretty much said it all!

The BC is nice, but it would be the last choice out of the options you are considering.

With kids the ages of yours, I would definitely pick a monorail resort. The Poly would be my first choice with its great theme, easy access to both MK and Epcot via monorail, large rooms, newly renovated pools, splash play area and lobby. You can also walk from there to the GF or ride the monorail to the CR. You will love watching the MK fireworks from the beach.

The CR is my second choice. It is great for walking to the MK, but has a less exciting pool for August and a less compelling theme. It does have the monorail going right through the main building and has awesome views of the MK area from the TPV tower rooms. SO, the CR is also a nice option - just second choice to the Poly!

Enjoy!

Our last trip we did a Poly villa and Beach Club split. I thought for sure that I would fall in love with Poly and BC would be my second choice, but it was the opposite. I LOVED BC! Our kids are 2 and 5 and the sand bottom pool at the BC was the best and easiest pool that we have ever had them in. I could sit on the side and let them plan, something that has never happened in a pool before for me since having kids!

Poly was great too, I loved the dining options and being on the monorail. I think one thing that clouded my impression was that we were the second to last room (closest to the TTC) and it rained our entire stay. The thought of hiking outside 5-10minutes with little kids to refill my mug or grab a snack was just not appealing, I felt much more room-bound than if we would have been in a hotel that has indoor connections to the main areas.

We actually decided that a MK/Epcot hotels split is our idea vacation. We are again doing Poly/BC in January, this time in the regular Poly hotel.

We have done BLT and really, I don't think anything beats that walk to MK from BLT/CR with little ones, but the pools are definitely at the bottom among those three.
