We are making our first trip to WDW in July. We have reservations for 8 nights at the Poly Concierge Garden View.

I've been reading all the posts about resort hopping, and now we are considering splitting our stay between 2 resorts.

Any suggestions on the other resort? We have two kids, age 8 and almost 2. I am looking at the Boardwalk or Yacht Club. Is one better for kids than the other?

Or is resort hopping more trouble than it's worth?

Thanks for all your suggestions!

The Yacht and Beach Club have a wonderful sand bottom pool that is more like a water park. My kids love it.

Keep in mind that the rooms at the Polynesian are larger (some would say much larger) than those at the YC/BC. Don't forget to bring an umbrella stroller for the 2 year old. It is very easy to roll right onto the monorail at the Polynesian. You won't have that at the non-monorail resorts.

Personally, I would not switch. Re-packing mid-vacation would be a drag. Plus you will likely not have a room at nap time on the day you switch. But, lots of folks do switch and are happy with it.

Have a fun time whatever you decide!

For a first trip I would not switch. I personally don't like to switch, and probably won't do it again (in my opinion, it is a waste of time).

The Yacht and Beach Clubs are very nice, and I'm sure you'd love either. If you do do a switch, I would do the Beach Club and Polynesian.

:)

We love to switch resorts! We almost always do one of the All Stars then switch to a deluxe. We love each hotel but the younger kids like ASMovies as they think it is Disney all the way! We are doing PO-FQ and ASSports this June. DH and I like FQ, kids prefer All Stars, go figure!

We love to switch. We found the perfect combo to be a MK resort and an Epcot resort. The Dolphin is one of our fav. resorts and we get the best discounts there, so it's always included in part of our stay. In June we'll be switching b/w Polynesian GV conceirge and Dolphin.

We have switched the last 3 times and have had little ones that needed naps and still found it very easy. We never felt like we missed out on anything. In fact, it always makes the vacation seem longer, because it feels like two different vacations. We're very light packers and usually do laundry mid-way. This time we'll have 3 kids and are still looking forward to switching. This way, we have easy access to 3 of the 4 major parks.

We are switching for the first time this summer. We had planned on switching once from BWV to VWL, but added the two weekend days at the Poly (our favorite) to save points at our DVC resorts.
We stayed at the Poly for our first trip and fell in love with the whole WDW thing. That's why we bought DVC. If you do decide to switch, definately switch somewhere in the Epcot resort area. You can boat or walk to MGM or Epcot there--so make sure you have that stroller handy for the little one.
We visited YC/BC once to use the pool, which we can't do anymore after the BC villas open up. I have to say I liked the pool there (stormalong bay) better than the BWV pool. I think with your kids you may like it better as well, although it is pretty crowded.

I love to switch and Disney will move your bags for you so we usually pack and call Bell services and then go to a park and return later in the day to our new resort.. I would diffinately go for a Epcot resort.. The pool at the Yatch and Beach club is wonderful so I would suggest those.. But the Boardwalk inn and Villas are great too. I have stayed at all but the Yatch Club.. It seems aliitle to high brow to me but I have never stayed. the Beach club seems very relaxed......

We are switching for the first time this year doing 6 nights at the Poly and 3 nights at the Beach Club. I have an 11 year old and I think she would really like Storm Along Bay pool. I don't think I would switch if we were staying for a week or less though.

Thanks everyone for the great advice. I still don't know what we are going to do?

I hate making decisions like this, lol! DH just keeps saying, "whatever you want to do honey, it's up to you".

I'm going to decide today though :-).

Thanks again.
