Poly and DD?

We will be at the Poly in 6 days!!!! One of our favorite places at DW is Downtown Disney. We will not have a car with us and will be travelling with DS(1) and DS(6). What is the best way to get to DD from the Poly?? Is there a bus that will take us there from the resort or do we need to go to TTC and catch a bus over there? Any help would greatly be appreciated

All resorts have a bus to/from DD. Not sure what other stops are on the way though. You also could take a taxi.

This is one of the many reasons we always rent a car. Orlando is one of the cheapest parts of the country to rent a car. The drive to and from MCO via the Greenway is a breeze. It also makes visiting other resorts convenient.

I've seen many bad reports about transportation to DTD from Poly too.


We aren't renting a car so we will rely on Disney transportation. I would also like to know any tried and true methoods for avoining an un reasonable wait. Is there any WDW resort we could take a bus to from TTC and walk over to DTD?

We've stayed at Poly twice and had no problems with the transportation there (with just one late-night exception from Pleasure Island - but another driver made it right).

In fact ... we jokingly refer to the buses as "The Magic Bus" because it seemed like no matter where we wanted to go, within minutes, a bus for that destination would come around the corner!

It's been a year since we've been there and we will be back in August, so I hope it hasn't truly gone downhill ...

In the past we have never had a complaint about the bus service from the Poly but we just returned and twice had unusal long waits for buses from the Poly. One evening we waited 45 mins for a bus to Disney Studios. After about 25 mins my DH went to ask valet parking desk about it , the called someone and finally 20 mins later the bus came. While we were waiting that 45 mins the only bus that did come was Downtown Disney bus twice.

Downtown Disney buses are dispatched every 15 minutes from 8:30 until 2:00am. The only time when they tend to get bogged down would be the evening dinner hours, when the large rush for DTD happens. We do however increase service to meet the demand, though.

For example... the other night, I was working out of Downtown Disney. I happened to be on an AK Lodge run at the time, but I was listening to my radio. It was 7:30ish, and the MK had begun its park exit. During this time, many day guests walk over to the Contemporary, and catch the DTD bus there. I overheard on the radio that a bus went 72 at the Contemporary. (That means it filled up, and cannot complete the run). Within 25 minutes, five buses went through the Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian resorts, and they were able to clean up the crowds.
