Based on the popularity of AKV club level rooms (pretty much need home priority window to have a chance at booking this), wanted to know if others would have purchased CCV for access to concierge club if these rooms were an option. Did DVC miss a great opportunity here to push sales of the new resort, especially to current members who want club level access and/or resale owners who want direct benefits? (We also heard that the minimum purchase for current owners was raised to 50 points at CCV, whereas it has been 25 points for all other resorts. I know we would have added if there was a 25-point minimum; probably if 50-point minimum as well.)

Thanks for responding!

Not sure I can distinguish between your first two poll responses.

That said, CL would be extra points so who knows what that would be??

Personally at $176 pp I think the whole system went for a ride on the Reading.

Is it really 50 min? Wonder if they are closing off the 25 point add on generally?

I have seen or heard nothing to indicate that the minimum add-on for CCV will be 50 points. Can you provide the source of that info?

The last time DVC raised the minimum add-on for a resort, it was one of its most disgusting moments. BLT went on sale in late Sep 2008 to current members and early October to new purchasers, ten months before it opened. Just before mid-January 2009, DVC announced that the minimum add-on purchase for BLT was being raised to 100 points. Less than a week later, it issued the point charts that would be in effect in 2010. That was the first year of the two-year reallocation done to do a major shift of weekend points to weekday. There was no early warning about the change as members learned of the point shift when the point charts were released. The result: large numbers of new purchasers at BLT, who had purchased points relying on the earlier point charts, suddenly found themselves short on the number of points needed for the vacations they intended when doing a Sunday through Thursday stay; and they could not even buy the 25 point add-on to rectify the situation but instead had to shell out huge dollars to buy 100 points. And that complete "screw" job was done even before those members ever got to stay at the resort. The complaints were loud and DVC went back to the 25 point minimum add-on at BLT two months later.

Posted by folks on other boards:

"Here are a couple details I heard about Copper Creek:
50 pt. min. to add-on for Members
75 pt. min. to join for New Members"

"I just spoke with my guide....add to your information that the minimum direct purchase for current members for CCV will be 50 points. All other resorts still remain at minimum add-on of 25 points direct."

CL is at AKV because the rooms have the worse views at the resort and because they are 50 feet from the CL lounge.

If DVD determined that CL at other resorts would make them money, all DVC resorts would have CL access.

:earsboy: Bill

The reality is they couldn't convert those rooms and make them not-CL at AKV. It was a matter of where they were.

The CCV rooms are on the opposite side of the building from the CL Lounge.

The Wilderness Lodge Concierge Lounge and the Concierge Lounge check-in are both located in the South Wing, just a few feet away from the Copper Creek Villas. The CCV villas on the 7th floor will actually be closer to the Concierge Lounge than the hotel rooms that have concierge access.

Are you referring to the old location or the new? As I understand it they have moved the lounge over to the north wing, in the northwest corner or someplace like that. It is not located where it used to be. From reports though there is quite a walk from some of the rooms.

When Disney started working on converting the 7th floor rooms to DVC villas, it announced that it was temporarily moving the concierge lounge to another location. I haven't seen anything stating that it was not returning the lounge to its original location once the construction work was completed. But I admit I don't always keep up with news updates for Disney's hotels, so I might have missed it if Disney is now planning on keeping the concierge lounge in the other location.

If the concierge lounge is not returning to its original location, then how will Disney repurpose that prime space? I can account for only 172 of CCV's 184 vacation homes. Turning the old lounge and check-in area into vacation home space could house some of the 12 unaccounted vacation homes.

They had a temporary location while they were building a new one. The new one opened in December perhaps?

Ah-found the location info - ~The new location is where the two honeymoon suites were located in the North Wing's 7th floor.

While I had held hope they were going to offer concierge as something to differentiate CCV I was doubtful since they were moving the lounge. It is likely that the old lounge space might be the area of some of the missing villas.

I stayed CL the week after the new lounge opened in November. This is the 7th floor, the red outline is the new lounge and CL CM desk area.

Interesting. Thanks to you and @GADidneyDad14 for setting me straight. When Disney said it was placing the lounge in a temporary location, I erroneously assumed it would eventually move back to its old location. Silly me.

Wow, initial trending shows only 25% for, and 75% against. Surprising, considering how difficult it is to book AKV concierge. Guess DVC didn't make a mistake by not including club level rooms at CCV, and we shouldn't expect it at any future resorts.

This is a little off topic but something I've always been curious about. With those AKL DVC CL rooms, how does the "cost" of the CL services work? Who pays for it? Is there a portion of annual dues that go to cover some allocated portion of CL costs to those rooms?

Hope that makes sense. Thanks!

The poll currently shows 28% of folks would have bought into CCV if it included club level access. Based on others' observations, this is actually a very high number, and DVC may be missing out on a huge market, and lots of potential sales, here. Any thoughts on this?

We do not know. DVC does not provide those details. We just know that those rooms have a higher point cost per night.

I voted no, as we have access to AKV-CL, and have stayed there 3-4 times. But even if I did not have AKV-CL access, there is no way I would pay $176/pt for CCV CL access, even if the minimum was 10 points. It would take several weeklong CL stays at CCV to make up for the money lost in spending $70-$100 more per point over resale at a 50 point minimum.

Our new Guide (new in the last year) called to offer us add on points to CCV. My DW said unless there were CL rooms, we were not interested. The guide indicated that there would not be CL rooms. So goes any interest in a small add on.
