I like widescreen. I hate the panning back and forth with full screen. DD, on the other hand, really hates widescreen. Of course, most of the time, I'm the one doing the purchasing so I get to choose.
Have you seen their TV's? Many people who only have older TV's like full screen DVD's.
At some point down the line some people who bought fullscreen will get widescreen TV's and regret that decision as they watch their DVD's with bars on the sides. But on the other hand, some people are looking at DVD's as being a short term solution and don't really care about the future. I can't say I blame them given how cheap they are. Buy what works for you at the time.
One other important part is the fact that sdome movies were made in Full Screen. Snow White and Fantasia are good examples.
Personally I knew I was getting (and now have) a widescreen TV so I always chose widescreen when it was the correct format for the movie.
My cousin told me that about 2 years ago, so I started buying widescreen ever since. I used to buy full frame because I didn't like the black line at the top and bottom of the screen. But now I'm so used to it, so I don't see it at all.
