I know this is kind of like comparing apples and oranges BUT which would you rather have dinner at?

I am thinking of dinner at the Poly before we head over to MK for the evening!

Thanks,
penny

Hands down, O'hana's is the best!!! The food and the service definitely surpass Kona in my honest opinion.

'Ohana is a lot of fun and FH and I (no kids) enjoy it very much. However, we've always had much better service and food at Kona, partly because the food at Kona isn't "mass produced" like at 'Ohana. We've been to Kona maybe 9-10 times over the last year and a half.

Kona also has their own pastry chef, so the desserts are fantastic.

We ate at both about a week and a half ago. We loved both and had great meals but they are very different. Our kids are youger and loved the races and hula lessons at Ohana's but also loved the great desserts at Kona. I think Kona felt a little more traditional because it is order off the menu. Check out the menu's and decide from there. I don't think you can go wrong either way.

You should probably try Ohana for dinner so you can have breakfast at Kona...Tonga Toast :teeth: :earsboy:

We always do Ohana for dinner and Kona for lunch since we really really love their lunch menu instead of their dinner menu!

We're going to both in just a couple of weeks! We've also booked Kona for breakfast and are considering lunch. Can you tell we like it?

DH loves O'Hana's - weve been twice

DS doesnt really like O'Hana's so he & I will be eating at Kona Cafe for dinner to start our mother/son vacation. This will be our first time here.
A few mornings later we'll be returning for brkfst at Kona

IMO, you cant go wrong with either. Both have delicious food, and we have always had great service. I enjoy the atmosphere at both although I seem to be in the minority about that at the Kona.

I would go by what you prefer for this meal...and all you can eat, set menu/price, with a fun busy atmosphere(Ohana) or a relaxed, laid back, order a meal off the menu type of experience(Kona).

We were at WDW last week, and ate at both. Kona Cafe was the best meal we had on the entire trip.

Shoot me now, but Ohana was awful. We had a 7:00 PS, and were not seated until 8:10. Beautiful atmosphere. Lovely view. However, the service was not only bad, it was downright rude. The meats were dried out and tasteless. The shrimp was unpeeled, and seemed only half cleaned. We tried this restaurant three years ago and had the same opinion, but after reading the overwhelming positive comments on this board, decided to give it another try. We won't do it again. Yuck!

estnh,

Don't worry...no shooting allowed! :rotfl:

I am looking for honest opinions and experiences!!!

Thank you for your candid review. I think I am on the fence for exactly the same reasons you listed: beautiful atmosphere BUT sub-par food.

Still undecided but leaning toward Kona... I did lunch at Kona and the food was very good. I sat close to the lobby on my solo trip. Maybe if I sat deeper into the restaurant, I might feel the atmosphere was better!

Keep those opinions coming! :goodvibes

Man, in our opinion the food at 'Ohana is absolutely fantastic! It's our favorite restaurant at WDW. In reading the various reviews of the place, you might find one out of ten that didn't like it. That's pretty darn good!

Highly recommended.
