Which place would you choose for lunch? I've eaten at Tangerine Cafe, and based on that, I like Moroccoan food. I've eaten at Rose and Crown and really enjoyed that, too, but one thing I look forward to is the lamb and barley soup and I don't know if it's on the lunch menu anymore. So I thought I'd ask for opinions. Where should I eat? It's a solo trip, if that makes a difference in the choice.

I would pick Roses & Crown it is always yummy! And we love the view! Hope this helps.... but either way they are both yummy!

We have eaten at both restaurants and enjoyed both. For me, I voted for Rose and Crown based on my own preferences. It seems like it would have lighter fare (like cheese and fruit plate, salads, etc), and in the humidity that is Florida, I prefer lighter foods during lunch. But both have really great food.

According to the DIS, as of 8/07 they still had the soup for lunch at Restaurant Marrakesh.

Well, right now it seems to be pretty well tied, so I guess I'll have to decide myself. Not an easy decision.

I would pick the Rose & Crown for sure. They have a mushroom and gravy dish that is divine!! Try to sit outside by the water. I love it!

I vote for the Rose and Crown. It's one of our favorite places to eat. We love the atmosphere and the views. The potato leek soup is one of the best I've every had.

I voted for R & C because my favorite dish there is only offered at lunch (the vegetable dish wrapped in phyllo dough with a mustard cream sauce . . . yummy!)

You definitely have to factor in to your decision what they offer at each restaurant at lunch times. It sometimes varies from dinner.

I just have to add my 2 cents.......

I love Tangerine Cafe and eat there every trip, I thought for SURE the Marrakesh would be heaven sent.....WRONG!! :sad2:

We ate there in June and had the "feast" dinner. Ugh. The soup was tasteless, I had to empty the salt and pepper shaker in it to make it edible. The little egg roll thingy (beef brewrat or whatever) was greasy and very small.

Ok, I figured I would just order a beer and the entree would be better. I got my beer, it was great and then the entree came. The lemon chicken was cold and dry. I think it had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite a while.:sad2: The couscous was lovely, but there was like three tablespoons of it...... The lamb was also good, but they must have killed a newborn lamb to get it. There was just such a small amount of food there!!!

The dessert was good, but I was irritated by that time, and did not want dessert.

For two adults and a toddler the bill with tax was 130.00. We were NOT on the DDP and we left hungry and irritated. The sting might have been less if we were on the DDP.

I have the DDP for my trip in two days, and I won't be doing this restaurant again...lol.

Wow, it's really interesting how we can all have different experiences at the same restaurants.

I have eaten at Marrakesh 2x, and both times it was wonderful! The harira soup (spicy tomato-type soup), beef kabobs, lamb and vegetable couscous, and mint tea are some of my favorite things at Epcot.

Sorry your experience was not as good as mine. :sad1:

I've eaten at both and liked both. I probably like Marrakesh a little better though (a major repeat for us, and I only tried R&C the last trip). That said I would pick Marrakesh because you have already eaten at R&C. I think it is always good to try something new.

Thanks all, I think I've decided. For a very "un-food-like" reason, I think I'll go with Rose and Crown. I was looking at some pictures, and Rose and Crown seems to be lit much brighter. Since I'll be solo, I'll probably be wanting to read or write in my journal, and R&C, because of its lighting, seems to make this more possible. So I made a choice-maybe next trip, when DH is with me, we'll do Marakesh together.

We love the Rose and Crown but. . .we had lunch there last month and the Lamb and Barley Soup is no longer on the lunch menu :sad2: and our waitress was terrible. Absolutely terrible! She brought our food and then disappeared. She couldn't have been that busy as the restaurant was mostly empty. :confused3
