Poll: long nails or short nails (fingernails)

I keep them short. I work with food and they're not strong. But I so love the look on me and would keep them long if I didn't work with food.

I've always kept mine short.. One less thing I have to deal with - and I think it's much easier to keep them clean that way..

Also, if you consider the way I clean things - getting into every teeny tiny nook and crannie - long nails wouldn't last for 5 minutes on me - LOL..

I think they look lovely on other people - as long as they're not long to the point where they curl over - but just not well suited to my lifestyle..

JessicaR, those second 2 pictures are just nasty.

I grow my nails long until I get sick of them. They get annoying. Then I cut them down really, really short and start all over again.

Wow I'm surprised that the majority here keep their nails short. Most of my friends have long nails. I'll probably be taking notice of stranger's nails now.

I had to vote other because even though my nails grow pretty rapidly, I am clumsy and tend to flail a lot. I am always inadvertantly hitting my nails and breaking some of them. So, some of my nails never get a chance to grow very long while others have to be cut so that my nails all stay the same length.

Mine are long, I really enjoy painting them up and designing them, I have even had them match my shoes.... granted this is shorter than they usually are but still long enough.

I've always had short, crappy, weak nails. I started using the Shellac gel/polish a month ago and now they are growing out and I LOVE them.

I did that too, and my experience was not good.
Make sure that when you change the polish, they actually SOAK it off like they are supposed to and don't just go at you with the grinder thingy. I HAD really nice strong mid-length nails, but I liked the idea of not having to go for a manicure for 2-3 weeks so I started the gel polish. 3 months later I have mushy, squishy, weak short little stubs that will take months to recover,
