Really is $343.70 per person on Southwest Cheap Airfare to Orlando??

Have you subscribed to Southwest's Ding? You can snag some really cheap last minute deals on there usually a month or so from when you want to fly. We were able to get our tickets from Chicago to Orlando for $56 each way (plus all the other addons, 9/11 surcharge etc.) think the total was about $130 each round trip. Don't buy too early from SW if you are trying for a promo fair!!

But without departure city and dates, you can't tell. If you're flying cross-country next Tuesday, yes - $343 r/t would be fabulous! If you're flying from Nashville in two months, no, it's excessive...

Ding is great unless you are flying right around a holiday or are not flexible with your dates. Then you take your chances whether you can get a ding rate or not.

We are traveling at christmas and it was actually cheaper to fly another airline. We got a rate cheaper than the current lowest promo rate Southwest has. If we waited for a ding rate, we would have lost out on getting this lower rate, and there is no way to know if they will actually offer one for that time of year.

Ditto - not enough info. given to tell.

I was checking 2 Adults, Southwest Air, Flying from Portland, Oregon[pdx] to Orlando, Nov. 30th, 2006 - Dec. 9th, 2006

I can't find decent Airfare!! Everything is over $300.00 pp I tried every Airline that flys out of PDX International. And IT is the only Airport in 300 miles.

Ever since the Airlines went to pricing every segment of your round trip, Airfare has shot up. Partly because there are NO "Non Stop flights". So I get charged for stopping in Seatle, Cincinnati, Salt Lake City, Huston, or Atlanta, so for a round trip I get charged for 4 segments, pushing the price sky high!! And it pushs me right out of being able to fly to Orlando.

It takes 8+ hours to even get to Orlando and back so that kills 2 days of vacation!! So, we can't go very often, and when we do get to go I want to stay more than 5[= 3 days in WDW]or 6[=4 days] nights to make it worth it.

I want to live in one of those $59.00 cities!!!!!!!

I put yes b/c I live in Alaska and I pay well over $500 for every ticket unless I can get a companion ticket or an airline miles ticket.

I'm flying out of Portland to Orlando Thurs. I got tickets throu Expedia for $245 round trip.

Wow! I just got a ding and my flight went down to $110 a person :cool1: just keep checking!! When we first started looking our flights were 300+ also...it's enough to drive you

WOW we haven't spent that much in a real long time. We even got LAX as well as Vegas for under $200 last year.

So far this year I just got $112 RT for our Oct trip and $175 for our Dec trip (hoping for a Ding still on this one.).

But the bottom line is it cheaper then what else you are seeing and can you get the times and direct flights you want . When on Vac time is money in my opinion.

My Delta from Reno to Orlando for the dates of 12/25/06 - 1/9/07 were $310 and I bought them in February. When SWA came out with their rates this August I would have saved a whole $2.70 per person, had to stop more often, no assigned seats and longer layovers making a long day really long.

If the time frames are good and the layovers not horrific I would say that these rates are not horrid and I would go ahead and purchase.

I have been watching Dings for months and there hasn't been any Reno to Orlando at least not that I have seen, don't know what the history from Portland is but it might be worth watching for a week or so to see if that route is ever even offered.

I don't know when you began looking at SWA, but it is possible you may have missed the really good rates. I think the Nov/Dec blocks were available a couple of months ago.

I think this is a decent price. We fly from Seattle 2-4 times a year and the past year or so we haven't gotten below $300. We got $330 last summer and were very happy with that. The days of flying for $250 are gone.

I don't fly southwest. Out of Seattle they are usually the highest. We fly Delta, American, Continental, whatever's cheapest.

Another Seattle area gal here.

That seems to be about average to Orlando. I think I paid $325 for my trip in July. I paid $388 for a trip in September (Labor Day weekend, for a friend's wedding in Orlando, not WDW.)

I did luck out last summer (Summer of 2005) and find a round trip for $183 on Continental but I've not seen a fare close to that since.

Southwest does tend to be expensive. Delta and Continental seem to be cheapest for me. My flights (including layovers) were about 7 or 8 hours total each. It really does eat up a big chunk of a day.
