I just pulled this from their disclaimer site http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/disneyparks/en_US/index?name=YOMDDisclaimerPage&bhcp=1 :

*NO PURCHASE NECESSARY to enter or win. A purchase will not increase your chances of winning. Open only to legal residents of 50 U.S., D.C., Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico & UK. Void elsewhere and where prohibited. Giveaway runs October 1, 2006 - December 31, 2007 (mail in entries postmarked starting September 18, 2006 & received by January 14, 2008 on 3.5 x 5 postcard with complete name, address, daytime phone#, birth date and proper postage sent to PO Box 8629, Elmhurst, IL 60126 USA).

It says nothing about handwritten entries.

We used the pre-stamped ones purchased from the U.S. postal service.

See quote from rules below for mail in address.

I have sent 1-2 per day since it started. I just won last week -- 1 of each (1 ears and 1 laynard). I will keep sending my cards in hopes of bigger and better.

You left of the part that in the disclaimer you quoted that says:

Subject to Official Rules (see below).

Now in the Official rules it says:

Also, starting on September 18, 2006, eligible participants can enter without being present in a Disney Property by writing their full name, complete mailing address (including postal code), daytime telephone number (including area code), and date of birth on a 3.5"x5" postcard and sending it with proper postage affixed to: (i) if a legal resident of the United States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Canada or Mexico: P.O. Box 8629, Elmhurst, IL 60126; or (ii) if a legal resident of the United Kingdom: Disney Dream Giveaway, 483 Green Lanes, London N13 4BS. Participants may enter once per day during the Giveaway Period. All mail-in entries must be mailed separately, postmarked by December 31, 2007 and received by January 14, 2008 or they will be void.

We can nickpick to death but in the end it's what you are comfortable with. I'm going with handwritten since it says "by writing" - I've won 3 times so I at least know for a fact that my entries are correct.

Now if someone is typing or using a label and has won then we know it doesn't matter so far I haven't seen anyone report a win using preprinted labels or computer generated postcards.

So how long from send in time did it take to win. I'm just wondering. I just sent in my first postcards on Monday. So just wondering how long to wait for the goods!!! :rotfl:

RE: Written only entries

This would be discriminatory against someone who can't write and depends on computers to do their commumicating. Major lawsuit if they don't accept entries with labels

Most contests say handwritten entries.

I have been hand writing...using a black ink. I know some decorate their cards...I have been doing just the basic info. Maybe that's it, I am not creative enough?:confused3

Pam

FINFAN,

I do not decorate or do anything fancy. White #10 envelope. White index cards. I sell Creative Memories, so believe me, I could decorate my bottom off, but I figure that I'll keep it plain.

From what I'm reading here, it doesn't seem to matter if you decorate or not, use an envelope or not (I do), use a pre-postaged card from the post office or not (I don't), handwrite or not (I do). I stick to the one per person per day rule because I'm afraid that if I was drawn for a really big prize, and there were two from me that day, that would be when I'd be disqualified. I'd be interested to find out when the big draws happen, how those people entered! I'm guessing that for 750000 ears, they are not being exceptionally picky, but the DVC points might get a bit more scrutiny.

You can use an envelope? I'd really like to, don't like having my birthday out there. Has anyone won using an envelope?

Our family has won seven or eight times (I'm beginning to lose track - lol) and I use envelopes. #10 (the long ones) white envelopes.

is there an age requirement?:) could I send one in for my 5 year old daughter?

No age requirement. The official rules even state that if a minor wins the big DVC point prize, it would be put into the parent's name until that child reached 18 years old.

My kids are 6, 9, and 13, and they have all won some ears, the 6-year old more than once, I think. I do not enter for the 20-year old since I think that's pushing it.

So, I send in 5-a-day, but not consistently every single day.
