Well...maybe not for the ages, but DH and I would sure like to know what you think! :)

Do you prefer a coil top range or a flat top range? DH and I are in the midst of house hunting and there is a strong possibility that we will have to replace the range wherever we move in (the houses in our price range are on the older side). We were trying to decide what kind to get.

Right now, we have a coil top and I've been wanting a flat top b/c I'm tired of trying to clean around the coils and into the little pan things. However, I have a couple of good friends with flat tops that say they are a pain in the...neck.

What do you have? Which do you prefer? Why? :confused3 :thumbsup2

I have the coil top one and I hate it it's such a pain to clean. My boyfriend has a flat top stove and it's great! Super easy to clean.

ETA: If I had to replace my stove I would lean toward flat top.

LOVE my flat top. It's so easy to keep clean and it expands my counterspace when I'm not using it.

I've been told that with the flat tops, that if they boil over you have to scrape it off with a razor blade. Is that true? If so, how often do you find you have to do that?

I just have to add....I thought it said
' a poll for AGNES!!' :lmao:
gonna be one of those days.....

Yes you do, but it comes off pretty easy, especially if you use the special cooktop cleaner. And it is a heck of a lot easier than soaking and scrubbing the burner reflector pans!

 Love my Maytag! I use Weiman Cook Top Glass Cook Top cleaner - works kind of like soft scrub, kind of like car wax. Piece of cake to keep stovetop clean!

I'm gonna be odd man out because I hated my flat top. It was beautiful when new, but after a few spill overs and such, I could never, ever get that gleen back to it. And sometimes it was hard to see the problem when standing right over it, but walk across the room and look at it at the right angle, and you could see it wasn't sparkling like when you first bought it. Once a year, I just buy new drip pans for my coil stove and it looks like brand new. :thumbsup2

I LOVE my flat top stove:love: I use Brillo on it. I've never scraped it but I should & I have had it for 7 years. It is dark blue on top & the burners are black. You can not see where it could be scaped. It is a very thin line. I just wipe or windex or shine it up.

I remember all the work the coil stove was!
