Sneakers or sandals...

what kind?

I was thinking of getting some sneakers that were really lightweight with no laces... well I saw someone wearing some and she let me try them on and they were feather light (well not literarlly). I thought they would be better than bulky sneakers .. or sandals (tend to get blisters and would rather protect my foot). I haven' treally gone shopping though for these yet.

I usually wear my Nike Air shoes when I plan on doing any serious walking around the parks. I need to get some water sandals for IOA so I can ride the water rides w/o squishing the whole day. :rotfl:

A good pair of walking shoes or sneakers is worth it's weight in gold... just not brand new ones.. break them in a little before the trip... I made that mistake.. OMG!!!

Good Luck!

I voted for sneakers.
Have to have comfortable feet. Especially if you plan on spending some time at Epcot, for whatever reason my feet feel like they've run the Boston Marathon, after a day at Epcot. :rotfl:

Socks and sneakers for all of us. No more open-toed sandals with tootsies that get stepped on! The only time I will wear anything other than sneakers is when we are going to dinner at a resort or offsite.

Sneakers, except for the day we do AK and Kali River Rapids. Then we wear sandals. The kids like to wear sandals every day.

It really depends on the time of year you are planning on going to WDW. We always wore sneakers for the September/November trips. The first July trip, we wore sneakers . . . big mistake. Poured down rain in a matter of minutes. Our sneakers (good ones - first day in park) were soaked and stayed that way for several days. Now we bring sneakers in July but always end up wearing sandals (Teva type).

I said other because I'll have to switch between the two off and on all day. I have really bad feet and switching seems to give me some relief.

I'm still waiting for my Crocs to arrive, so it remains to be seen whether or not I'll like those.

So, tell me about these lightweight sneakers! Where did you get them, and what brand are they? Do they have nice support in the footbed like regular sneakers?

Always sneakers!! We usually buy them a couple of months in advance, so they get broken in before we come. We wear them year-round. The heat doesn't seem to bother the feet so much. I do admit, though, that we don't ride Kali, we might change our minds about that if we did. :flower:

Has anyone ever heard of Ecco? I bought a pair of slip on type sneakers there and love them. I am breaking them in for my trip in December.
They are really comfortable and good looking too.

Other!!! I bring my sneakers (New Balance or Easy Spirit Walkers..well broken in) and a pair of sport sandals from LL Bean. The sandals are great in the wet and are really supportive which I need with my high arches. So, I usually wear my sneakers in the mornings and then, after our mid-day swim, change into my sandals for the rest of the day.
I'll be bringing my Crocs with me this time. I'm eager to see how they do in the parks.

I like New Balance tennis shoes, although in the summer months I've work Rockport sandals that have done well. I'm itching to try those Crocs, too. :earsgirl:

I really like my Keen Newport sandals for WDW. They are extremely comfortable, waterproof, and have a covered toe box that is great in case someone (or a stroller) accidentally goes over your toes. You can find them at zappos.com

CROCS all the way! I have taken sneakers, Tevas, sandels, and more the last few trips. It will be CROCS this time! Wore mine in Scotland a few weeks ago with a very badly sprained foot and they are still the only shoe I can walk in, or even get on that foot. If I can find a new pair... and the colors are fun. They feel great, and I have foot/knee(surgery)/and hip problems. Walked up and down hills, dales, and Lochs for over a week with them and the bad foot, and they made a great deal of difference! Not even sure I will take a differnent pair down with me other then the CROCS.

I take 1 pair sneakers and several pairs of flip flops. I live in flip flops at home, so that's what's most comfy to me. I buy inexpensive ones and then just toss them when they get dirty so I have more space in my luggage.

I switched off between sandals and sneaks - the same shoes day after day can start to hurt. We like the sandals from Lands End.

Been there, done that too! :sad2: I ended up wearing bandaids to cover the blisters. YIKES! But I just had to have nice, new, clean white Reeboks. Go figure!

Sneakers-I swear by my new balace sneakers. I have plenty of support, dont get any blisters and my feet stay happy. I also bring a pair of flip flops to hang around in-usually Old Navy b/c they are cheap...like the other poster I toss them after the trip to save room. But for the parks-sneakers!!
