POLL: DVC Member Cruise---Now that you know, will you go?

Will you still go on the DVC Member Cruise now that you know the cost?

  • Yes, I will go and it is worth it to me/us.

  • No, the increase is just too much to consider going now.

Just giving some thought to the recent threads about the cash and points cost of the 2006 DVC Member Cruise. I know we all think it's a little high and was expected but now that you see the prices, although not in print yet, will you still go or has this changed your mind altogether.

Also, what category room will you be trying for on Dec 3? I think if we get through, we will go cheap and just get the cat. 11 or 12.

Yes, I will still go and it is worth it.

No, given the increase and absence of ports and spa, it is not worth it.

The points are right in line with where we thought they would be. We will be calling in on December 3. Annmarie

Points are where we thought they would be as well. We'll go for our usual Cat. 7 with either a cat 6 or 8 if we can't get that. I'll be happy with any category - just get me on the ship! :)

I voted no. It really wasn't an issue with cost, it was no ports of call except for CC and the spa being closed for the cruise. We were still thinking about it until I told DW about the spa and that was what killed it.

I think i'd rather have the port, than the spa but having CC twice is not too shabby since we love it there. If they include the tips and waive the $75, that will really help justify at least a little bit of the increase. Having it during food and wine kind of makes me want to go and tie in a wdw weekend on the end. lol, i keep finding reasons to dial that phone on dec. 3

Oh, I can only say...

It is way too expensive, Don't go...
(it'll make it easier for me to call in... Yes, Of course it is worth it!!!)

I think it will be worth it. They will probably do it up big for the 15th Anniversary and they now know what members expect, so they will have to kick it up a notch and really outdo themselves. As long as JL is in charge, I wouldnt be too worried about them making it worth it.

That said, I don't think we will make it next year. We thoroughly enjoyed this year's MC and thought it was well worth it and once on the ship, we never questioned what we paid. It was AWESOME!

Next year's MC cruise will cost $1000 more, and even before I knew what the price would be, I really had my heart set on a 7 day cruise and we booked the 2 castaway cay for Sep 2006 for $2700 for the 4 of us. The MC 2006 would run us $3500. Not apples to apples, just the facts of what I am dealing with. We paid cash for our cruises and rent out points. I also booked onboard the MC for March (Spring Break) 2007, so Im a little more content knowing I have 2 7 day cruises booked. :goodvibes

My kids are gonna miss school whether we go in Sep or October so that's not an issue.

I may still try to go solo on the MC so I can do both and only take the boys out once, but that is just my OCD talking! LOL!

If you have never been on a MC, I would say go, because the price is never gonna go down, only up. It was a wonderful experience for my family and a great intro to cruising with DCL.

Neither reply for us, we can't go, we would love to go, but work gets in the way!

Bobbi

We are a definate -- provided we can get a cabin.

I would love to go, but as a teacher I can never go at that time of the year. I wish they would do a summer DVC cruise at some point.

You took the words right out of my mouth!! :rotfl:

Provided we get onboard...this will be our 3rd Member Cruise! :bounce:

I read the info on the Member website about the upcoming 2006 cruise, but where does it tell you how much money or how many points? Thank you.

Provided that we are lucky on 12/3, we will be on that ship. I was on the MC this year, and I would feel so lost if I couldn't go on this one. The points/cash are right where I thought they would be, so it wasn't a shock for me.

Okay, I am lost. Where are the points posted? I still didn't see them on the member site. :confused3

I would love to go and seriously considered it. But that means both my kids will be taken out of school for that week.

The positive side is that we can do a Halloween Party at MK, and attend the F&W Festival.

I hope DVC will one day have a summer member cruise.

The comproise from DH is now that we are going on a 7 night Magic in August to make up not going to the member cruise. :)

I think if the timing is not an issue, I would still prefer the member cruise. We really enjoyed last year's summer block party at Pleasure Island and trust DVC will do it right despite the higher price for the member cruise.

All the member cruises have been FANTASTIC! We felt like royalty on each one. Yes, the cost is more... but we decided to go for the fun of being a part of a cruise for DVC members.

For the upcoming cruise, we would have preferred another port... and another time period (July-August). We LOVE CC, but when the weather is not good, or the water is cold, there goes the enjoyment for us... also, eating at Cookies twice (unless there is a special menu for the 2nd day) is not our first choice. Even a second day at sea with more special speakers, a Palo brunch (to die for!) + on board activities would be great.

All that said if we can get a stateroom we will try to get on board for this one. :sunny:

Looks like we won't be able to go after all. We'll be away when the reservations are taken... and... they'll go QUICKLY! Maybe we'll waitlist.
