Must have been a slow news day, but apparently, the Bidens drew some attention the other day when they dined at a local D.C. restaurant and ordered the same pasta dish for their entrees.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/bidens-ordered-same-dish-restaurant-174903002.html

When I thought about it, I realized that if my wife orders something I was thinking of having, I admit, I'll end up ordering something different. We often try each other's dishes anyways, so it works out. Not sure what others do while eating out?

Very very rarely do DH and I order the same food. He knows that I HATE it when he gets the same thing without getting my approval first. We usually discuss what we’d like and sometimes compromise before the server arrives.

Supposedly one set of my parents’ friends ALWAYS ordered the exact same food at restaurants, even the same side dishes, salad dressing, drinks, and dessert.

Married 20 years. As it turns out, we like a lot of the same things, especially at Benihana or Mortons.......

Most of the time, DH and my tastes and preferences result in us ordering different entrees. However, sometimes we both want the same thing and just order the same. It's only while traveling, once in a lifetime meals that we do the "try different things and share" dance.

Depends on where we are going and why. If we are going out specifically to have steak, we both usually end up with the ribeye-but our sides will be drastically different. So....sort of...sometimes?

We don't even eat the same stuff when we cook at home!
This is us too. Hubby hates vegetables, mostly eats fried food and hasn't met a cow he didn't like. I eat mostly vegetables, don't eat fried foods and if I eat meat it's chicken most of the time with pork thrown in sometimes. If I eat beef it's real lean. We cook at the same time and eat at the same time but different things. It's hard for us to find a place to go out to since he is so picky. If an onion even passes near his food he swears he can taste it.

Married for almost 28 years, & I guess… occasionally maybe we might end up ordering the same thing… but, most of the time, no.

I think it depends on what kind of restaurant it is & the variety of items on the menu.

Like, for instance, at a place that serves mainly burgers, we may both get a cheeseburger w/ fries - but that’s more at fast food type places where we’re getting it to go.

About a week ago, we shared a Detroit-style pepperoni pizza.

But, again, most of the time, no - he & I will usually want different things on the menu.

Every now & then, a couple of different items may sound appetizing to both of us, so he’ll order one dish & I’ll order the other dish so that we can try both things.

And, like other another poster mentioned, we normally discuss what we’re ordering before the server takes our order - ”If you’re ordering that, then I’ll order this…” kinda thing.

I can’t think of any time we’ve both ordered the same pasta dish.

I voted other, because if we both reeeally want something, we'll order it, but if either of us is debating, we'll pick the thing the other one isn't and share some.

It is very rare we order the same thing(s). With years in between it happening again lol. We’re usually drawn to different entrees. Appetizers we collaborate on. He loves trying different soups, I love trying different salads.

Clam chowder from our favorite family restaurant on Fridays.
Other than that, not usually. My wife doesn't like Liver and Onions, so we don't have that at home, but it is something I might order out. Usually comes with a side order of derogatory comments from my wife.........although less often since two servers commented to her that it is their best selling entree......"the ultimate comfort food" according to one.
