I can tell you as much as I appreciate DL and the fact that Pirates is better there, and they have the Matterhorn, and Space mountain is faster and darker. I still like WDW better because you feel more IMMERSED. You get completely away from the real world for the time you are there and you can really heal from all the hurts and scars of the real world to be refreshed again when you get back home. I vote WDW. How about you guys? I think it costs about the same to go to either place. I am on the West Coast. If you go to DL and want a value it's going to be off site. WDW is better.
EVEN though I could drive to DL. WDW is better.:yay:

My vote is for WDW! So much more to see and do, like you said - total immersion!

Hands down Disneyland! This was Walt's park. Everything that represents him is in this park and his magic touch can be seen and felt everywhere. POTC, Space Mountain, Fantasmic and the park experience is far superior imo. I do love WDW for the resort experience however. I love driving down the coast and experiencing everything California has to offer:thumbsup2

While we are about to head to WDW for the umteenth time, I much prefer DL because California as a state trumps Florida. Since we are the type to do as much off property as on I feel that California can't be beat.

I begged to go back to California instead of Florida this year but hubby thought that since we were there again last May, FL would be a cheaper vacation. It's not but I relented since I'm just grateful to be going away anywhere for 15 days since we just got back from another vacation in December.

California has so many amazing places to see. San Francisco, Monterey, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Santa Barbara, San Deigo, Hearst Castle, Hollywood, Pasadena (I want to live here), etc, etc, etc.

May is the perfect time to go to DL. No crowds and amazing weather.

we have been to both this year and I have to say DW too
DL was a let down after DW it seemed dated and rundown to us, when you compare them
and DW you still felt like Disney even after you left the park and DL it felt as soon as you left the park Disney was over KWIM

DL for the parks
Like being able to walk everywhere
Like that the rides are in two parks rather than spread over four
Generally prefer the DL version where the rides differ
Prefer the CA beaches
Like LGB but we do not get direct flights
Good memories from childhood

DW for the resorts, it is more of a vacation
ME and proximity to airport
AK DD loves the safari
DD has discovered the scuba diving in the salt water aquarium at Living Sea at EPCOT

I have been to DL 7 times and WDW 7 times. We prefer WDW way more, just the over all atmosphere. We love Florida much more than California.
But anytime I get a chance to see the MOUSE at either one is TERRIFIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WDW by a landslide in our family. We prefer the total immersion - truly a resort feel. Also love the water parks, the Florida heat, and the huge selection of Disney restaurants, the free dining (when offered) and the selection of value/moderate/deluxe resorts. In terms of crowds, WDW always seems to be less crowded than DL (during the time of year we have to go because we are slaves to the school calendar).

Comparatively, DL has only 3 hotels, priced horrendously high for what they are and a limited selection of restaurants of dubious quality (I'm thinking of Storytellers Cafe as I write this).

Another vote for Disneyland! The original! Better care and everything works most of the time. Disneyworld is bigger and more parks I agree, but they are more for "once-in-a-life" tourist, but it lack the charm of Walt's own creation.

:goodvibes There are individual rides or shows that are better in one park or the other. Having been to both when I return from DL I like it better. When I return from WDW I like it better. I have very definite opinions on which I like better, my opinion just changes with every trip:confused3. I have one opinion that does not change, WE LOVE DISNEY:love:

While I appreciate that DL is 'Walt's' park and I have memories of it from being there as a child, none of that means much to my kids. WDW has so much more to offer them...4 parks, DTD (which is sooo much better at WDW), DisneyQuest, Water Parks etc. Some of the rides are better at DL but some are better at WDW. I love fantasyland at DL but CA was strange to me...didn't feel like we were even at Disney. When we go to WDW we can spend our whole vacation being right there as there is so much to do we don't need to leave WDW property at all. When we went to California we toured the state first (which is beautiful) and then spent 3 days at DL which was enough to do everything we wanted to do. If someone wanted to go on a strictly 'Disney' vacation then I would definitely recommend WDW.
