I know there are a few of us on here If you see him can you please PM me

Polk City/Lakeland areas

I had the railing on the deck replaced because the wood was rotting. I realized they left too much space between the wood but I didn't think. He got out yesterday afternoon right into the paddock with Maxine and gone from there. She never made a sound. Two other of the dogs were on the deck with him. Not one bark. I had to join FB to get him posted with a helping lost pets organization. He has a chip ..I feel sick.

O boy. Sending prayers and good thoughts for a safe return!

(It is so nice to have those networks for this now!)

Oh no. I hope you find him. My DH has a friend at work that belongs to a group finding lost dogs and they are so dedicated and do some amazing things to find lost dogs. Good luck to you. Please keep us posted.

Thank you I am really hopeful that he is okay and will be home soon.

Tinkerbell53 are you in FL too ?

I can send the link for FB for anyone who reads this who may want more details Just PM me Blessings to you all

Prayers for a quick return

Thanks so far no sightings but our Vet has been in contact with animal control on our behalf. I love our sheriff and animal control here except for one thing. They won't tell you over the phone if an animal has been picked up that has been injured ( or God forbid worse ). You have to physically go to the shelter for that information.

Makes no sense ( and a future letter I will be writing ) On the upside, for us anyway, of the 2 that were injured and picked up ( poor babies ) neither was Gilbert. Sadly though those two do NOT have a microchip and the owners may never know what happened.

If nothing else today I plead with all animal owners get your pets micro-chipped . It does not hurt them, it's only the size of a piece of rice. I too realized another important thing, keep your chip info updated. I had to fix it during this saga, but never realized that the info on his chip would go back to GA and never would have come back to me.

That's my PSA for the day. Once again thanks so much for thoughts/prayers. Will keep you all posted.

Ruthie

I'm giving this a bump for you Ruthie. Just in case there are other posters in our area, like me, who were off the DIS for a few weeks and missed this thread!

I hope Gilbert gets back home quickly.

Thanks for bumping the thread. I went to animal control yesterday and gave them a flyer posted on their website too.
I have flyers at the break room of our fire department. Our vet is sending out emails and posters and calling animal control directly. Tomorrow I will take flyers to our local cable company, the water company, the post office, and pizza delivery in the area. His " America's Most wanted " poster is prominently at our local feed store. He is posted on SPCA and Humane Society of central FL. I am exhausted, but cautiously optimistic. My other dogs are in a quiet state.

Thank you for thoughts and prayers.

Ruthie, are you in any of the Facebook yard sale groups? I meant to ask you the other day. If not, I'm in a bunch so I can post the link you sent me in those if you want.

No I'm not can you PM your email address please ? I can send you several links. I have him listed on Craigs List too

That brought out a whole lot of crazy, one woman in my area emailed me about 20 times with phone numbers for found dogs from months ago unbeknownst to me. I ended up making a lot of late night calls and many apologies. Thank God everyone was kind and understanding.

I don't want to alienate her but do I really need an email saying I hear a dog barking, another I hear shots fired, I saw a fox, I am trying very hard to be kind, I think she is lonely. I plan to meet with her later this week.

In a highly public place ! ( thanks LiveYourLife ) :tilt:

Maybe I can do something for her, maybe that's the reason for all this. Who knows ?

I have more peace of mind, I just got off the phone with a really nice operator for Florida Highway Patrol ( non emergency ..of course...for my county...BIG area ) and she checked the computer no injured ( or worse ) animals
since he is on the loose. :dogdance: Wonderful news for him and all the others missing. At her suggestion I will be calling every 2 days.

No I am unfortunately in NH. We have a group here that helps find lost dogs in our area. We had a tiny 5-lb chihuahua missing here in our neighborhood over the worst part of the winter and they were able to locate and trap him. Hoping there is something similar in your area to help you find yours. I would be so upset if mine were missing and you're in my thoughts.

Ruthie still praying for you and your baby. Really hope he comes home soon! Our one dog is micro chipped and the info the vet recommended was to put their info instead of ours. They recommend that for all the ones micro chipped there. Cause people move and sometimes forget so it kinda made sense to us. If we every get another one she will be chipped as well. Highly recommend that too

So hoping you find your puppy soon. I just wanted to share a website you might want to register with. They will send Lost Pet emails to other people who are registered in your area to alert them to a lost dog. I have been a member since we got Pippin (that's him on the left) since he would run if he got the chance.
