I am a Republican at my core.
However, my political leanings are... difficult to describe. Some of my stances would be considered libertarian. I agree with them on social issues: in that the government should STAY OUT of our personal lives. However, I'm... iffy on some issues, such as abortion and gay marriage. My brain tells me that abortion and gay marriage should be allowed, because they're private matters that the government should have no control over, but my heart tells me that those things blatantly go against my religious beliefs, and I just wind up with an upset stomach. I will end up having to side with one of these by the time I vote, but for now... I don't want to.
Economically, I also think that the government should stay out. Big economic policies like the bailout Bush just signed (Bush has been great in the past, but he is far from what this nation needs in office right now) tend to hurt more than help. Issues on the economy should be left to the state and local governments (even though Michigan's government can't handle the economy worth fecal matter; look at the mess they've made out of our state!).
I'm pro peace, yet we sometimes have no choice. When the only goal in someone's mind is to blow your head clean off your shoulders, it's kind of stupid and pointless to negotiate, don't you think? I hate killing. Life is the most precious non-renewable resource on this planet, no matter what those retarded oil companies tell you. Yet sometimes, in order to protect our own people... other lives must be taken. It's a sad fact of life.
As for the presidency, I want McCain to win, although Romney was the best cadidate. This "he's old! he'll drop dead any second" talk is a load of bull you-know-what. Ronald Reagan, one of the greatest presidents we've ever had, was only 3 years younger than McCain was when he was elected. And guess what?
He had skin cancer too. And no, Palin wasn't the BEST choice for VP, just as McCain wasn't the BEST GOP nominee. I think she's a good person with alot of good ideas, but I don't think that she's ready to handle the presidency.
But neither is Obama. And the scary thing? Obama is running for president, not VP. And he's ahead in the polls.
Obama scares me, honestly. There. I said it. His ideas make me want to grab a blankie, huddle up in a corner, and cry in terror. Some of his views are even akin to Marxism. If you don't see it, you are most likely very liberal. Not saying that that's a
bad thing, and I know that many think that communism isn't bad, but I have a little saying I go by. "The government which governs best, governs least." And that's not something I made up; that's Henry David Thoreau.
So, there are my main political views.
