Yep, that was right around when Johto was in full swing. ^^ What I meant by 'Johto Era' was just how the different seasons of Pokemon are differentiated. The first series of Pokemon, with the games Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow, the original 150 pokemon, and the Indigo series of the anime is called the either the 'Kanto Era' (after the region in the games/show) or the 'First Generation', since it was, well, the first generation of Pokemon. The series after that, with Gold, Silver, Crystal, the next 100 pokemon, and the Johto League in the anime is the 'Johto Era' (again after the country in the games/anime) or 'Second Generation'. Same for the Houen and Sinnoh series, they're the third and fourth generations respectively.
The timeline is something like this:
Kanto Era (First Gen)- '98, '99, '00
Johto Era (Second Gen) - '00, '01, '02,
Houenn Era (Third Gen) - '03, '04, '05, '06
Sinnoh Era (Fourth Gen) - '06, '07
Er, hopefully that made any sense at all.
