I have an upcoming reservation that will use so many points. On my member page it has available points to use for this use year. It looks like the points for my upcoming trip are in this allotment. Is that correct or if you have a reservation they would be deducted from your available points ?

available points will be used. if you need to borrow points from next use year, as you indicated your trip will use a lot of points, you can borrow from next UY. but your available points show what is available for this UY, and if you have any points banked from previous UY, those should be used first.

When does your trip occur, during your current Use Year or during next year's UY? The points you have available during that time period are the points you can use. If you need to bank, you'll have to bank first. If you need to borrow, it will ask you if you want to borrow.

If your trip is already booked, those points are taken out of the inventory, but they can be put back into the inventory if you cancel the trip.

On the Member website, when you log in as a member, go to My Vacation Points. If your points have not been used to make a reservation, they will show up as vacation points remaining. If they have been used, they will not show up. But you can check the reservation that was made using the points by checking View Vacation Details.

If you booked a trip and thought you were using specific UY / resort points but they are still showing as available then you should contact member services. The points should not show as available after you have booked and you have probably utilized different UY / resort points. The only way to correct this type of error is to contact MS and even then you may not be able to make any changes of this type.

Did you have points that needed to be banked for use on your reservation? My sister ran into that problem - she didn't bank her points before making the online reservation, and the system automatically pulled current use year points. You have to physically bank the points into the next year before making a reservation in that next use year.

If you made the reservation and the system took no points away, I would call MS and have them look into it. They will figure it out eventually anyway. We just had our points messed up - Disney put extra points in our account after a computer glitch. It took a few weeks, but they eventually figured it out and took the points away.
