Member services doesn't seem to be able to answer my question. They also told me I can't bank transferred points, so I told them, well, yes I know I can, please double check. Before double checking, he also told me I could accept as many transfers as I wanted, but could only transfer out once per year. Which is obviously untrue. But that just shows you how much I trust their information.

I am looking to get a transfer from someone who has a February use year. My use year is October. For Feb 2015 points, I need confirmation that those would count as my 2015 transfer. I already received a transfer in 2014. So even though I know Feb 2015 falls in my 2014 use year, do they calculate "1 transfer per year" by calendar year? I think they do, but I would feel much better if someone who has done it can confirm. I'm almost positive my last transfer was from Sept 2014 use year and it counted as my 1 for 2014. But Feb is so much further away from Oct than Sept is, and the guy I talked to on the phone told me "theoretically" it should be fine. Lovely.

I know a could only use Feb 2015 points through Jan 2016 unless banked, which I intend to do. I'm very familiar with that part of it.

Wish member services could tell me for sure.

I thought that it was one transfer per UY and that the transferred points retain their home resort priority and UY.

We transferred once and vowed never to do it again, MS lost us a CL reservation and messed up our account because of the transfer.

That I understand. I just don't understand how they figure out which of my use year transfers have been used, and which of my use year transfer will be used.

I have received the following transfers previously: Aug 2013 points and Sept 2014 points, both use years before my Oct use year. I thought member services told me that these used my 2013 and 2014 transfers, even though the points I received were in my 2012 and 2013 use years. I guess as long as they stay consistent, I will not have an issue. IE, if Aug 2013 used up my 2013 transfer and Sept 2014 used up my 2014 transfer, then Feb 2015 should use up my 2015 transfer. Or, If Aug 2013 used up my 2012 transfer and Sept 2014 used up my 2013 transfer, then Feb 2015 should use up my 2014 transfer. If they can tell me which of my transfers have been used, I think I would be able to figure it out myself.

I understand there can be issues, but I have used the transferred points previously to get home resort priority and/or additional points at my same home resort to get a larger unit.

And that is why we don't transfer, not even MS understands the rules and how to transfer the points into and out of your account. Another issue is that unless things have changed, the transferred points show up as a note in your account and if MS doesn't find the note, they don't use the points unless you insist that they are there and usually they have to call team line for help.

We decided after issues with transfers, waitlists, and MS mistakes over the years to buy contracts where we love to stay and now we book online which reduced our mistakes to zero.

Bill thanks for the insight. I keep telling myself this is the last time we will need a transfer, not worth it to buy more points, etc, etc. Deep down, I know our best bet is to buy more points. But at this point, I don't have enough time to go through resale to get points in time to make reservations for next October, and I refuse to pay direct prices. We will do it eventually, but for now, I'm going to make the best of what I can do. Hopefully when the person I will be getting the transfer from calls, MS won't blink an eye. I don't want to waste their time calling and sitting on hold only to be told no sorry can't transfer. I want MS to tell me so I'm the only one spending so much time on hold!

And possibly there is someone who is familiar with transferring who can weigh in as well. I will also be calling back tomorrow and asking to speak to someone who can give me an answer.

The way it is supposed to work is as follows. You are allowed one transfer, either in or out but not both, per use year. A transfer of any 2015 points into your account counts as a transfer into your 2015 use year regardless of the applicable months of either member, so a Feb 2015 point transfer counts as the one applicable to your Oct 2015 use year.

If you have problems with MS, ask to be transferred to a "team line" advisor.

That's how I always understood it, and what I was hoping. Thank you for the clarification. Hopefully whichever CM my transferring buddy gets on the line understands it that way too.

In case anybody was interested in knowing the outcome, the points have been transferred into my account, and we are thrilled to have the 11 month booking window for BCV for our wedding next October!

Ah, so if I am understanding this correctly, each transfer must transfer over to the same use year in the other member's account, and counts as the one transfer for that use year for each of those members? So if, say, someone were to transfer 2014 points right now, that would still count as the 2014 transfer for both members. That makes sense I guess.

A problem that I encountered is that if your 2014 UY is already over, I was told that you can't get that transfer. So the OP, with an October UY, probably has very few problems, but those of us with early UY (I'm March) can't really use a transfer from a late UY, like December. For example, a Dec UY person is now in their 2014 UY, but I can't take their 2014 points, because I no longer have a 2014 UY to put them into -- it's expired.
