Say I want the same ressie every year at WLR that I see for 24 points......my question is..... over the years, will the amount of points needed for that same ressie at the same resort go up? I'm sure this is a simple answer.

The points required for a specific reservation can change. The total number of points at a resort cannot change, but DVC can (and has) reallocated the number required for specific nights. If some nights are raised - others must be lowered so that the totals required for the year are the same.

The last (and only) reallocation occurred for OKW back in 1996 when some nights were rasied a few points and others were lowered a few points - and some nights didn't change at all.

If the points needed for a specific stay are critical, be aware that they could change. IMO, no changes will be coming in the near future as DVC has had opportunity to make changes as each new resort has come online.

Floating holidays, like Easter, will have an annual adjustment, as well. While the points aren't really changed, the dates of a "season" will change.

I did notice that.....about the slight season date changes from 2006 to 2007, but the dates aren't changed so much that it will make much of a difference. Mine was basically an example....We are pretty flexible within a 2 wk. range.

One thing to remember, Ches, is that, unlike a resort reservation, where you check in and pay the rate of the first night even if the season changes during your stay, each DVC night is charged at its own point level. So if you start in value season and stay into choice season, you pay by the night at value and choice point rates. If you did that at a resort you'd get to stay with the value rate during your whole stay.

I love my DVC points!!!
