Points or Cash Option for New Members

Here is my question,

You can either opt for the $10 per point discount or the points. Now when you opt for the points, we were told by our guide that you get those by basically getting a March use year. He said that we will get 160 points for this year and then our 160 points every March 1st thereafter. Is this all a correct statement. He said that at Animal Kingdom you get the $8 per point discount but no points until next year since no points exist to give. Is this all accurate information or are we getting misdirection from our guide. And on new purchases from what I have seen you cannot double dip cash and points? Thanks

It does look like the information you have is correct. The incentive options for new purchasers are either $10 at SSR/$8 at AKV or the Developer Points. There are no AKV points for any dates prior to the opening of the resort - so with a March Use Year the first points available will be March 1, 2008.

The "double-dip" incentive was available only to exsiting members who add-on, in person, at the Gateway to Dreams DVC store in Chicago. That incentive is not available in FL - even to existing members. It also ends, in Chicago, on Friday (8/31).

well, as a new member myself, I can only tell you what I was offered.

I bought 270 points at AKV with a June use year. I chose the double developer points over the cash discount. I now have 540 developer points to use before August 7th of next year and 270 points from this year, that I have already banked so I'll have 540 to use next year (this years 270 and next yrs 270).

I can see why with a March use year you wouldn't get points for this year (since DVC wasn't started til after that I beleive for AKV) but i would want a different use yr since then you only have the DVC membership for 49 yrs instead of 50 but you'll be paying full 50 yr price.

Doesn't sound to me like this poster is talking about developer points, but rather that they'll get current points if they go with Saratoga but won't with AK. The discount applies either way.

When I bought I got a Feb UY with 2007 points. They apparently got additional points available due to the accelerated construction. So the key question that needs to be asked is which year,08 or 07, are you getting pints for?

We bought AKV in July (hence my Dis name) and got a june use year with our 2007 210 points available right away. We are using some of them this year and will bank the rest. We took the $8 pp credit.

Nope AKV Our unit is due for completion of Dec 1st which is the date we could use the 07 year points.
