Just returned from a lovely 2 weeks staying in Saratoga(4nights) Vero (4nights) & Boardwalk(7nights), we treated 6 of our friends but sadly 2 of them had to cancel 10 days before departure due to really bad health report. This meant lots of rearranging of rooms & accommodation which was finally sorted the day before departure, resulting in me having 230 points in 'Holding Account'. No problem I thought, we'll go to New York in December, 1st problem Regency Hotel blocked all bookings from Nov20th until Dec20th, ok we'll go to the Shelbourne Murrey Hill, 2nd problem Disney have dropped this hotel from their list as from June 1st. Did anyone else know about this as I've not seen any anouncements regarding this. Anyway next confusing point was 'I can only book any holiday using 'holding points' 60 days before we want to go, what's that all about? I'm sure I'll finally find a home or holiday for these points but I didn't realise it would be so difficult.

John, I'm going to move this to the UK DVC forum.

John, holding account points is not good news as they are much less flexible than ordinary points. From the DVC website:

Any time you change or cancel a Disney Vacation Club Resort reservation 30 days to one day before your scheduled arrival date, the Vacation Points used for that reservation are put into a Holding Account.

What you need to know about using Holding Account Vacation Points:

You can use these Vacation Points for a new Disney Vacation Club Resort reservation during your current Use Year as long as you book the reservation 60 or less days before the new check-in date.
You can use these Vacation Points for an exchange through The Disney Collection, Concierge Collection, Adventurer Collection, and World Passport Collection if you make the reservation 60 or less days before the new arrival date and more than 60 days before the end of your Use Year.
You cannot bank or borrow these Vacation Points.
These Vacation Points will expire at the end of your Use Year if they aren't used.

Disney do keep changing hotels in their concierge collection. Basically you need to contact member services within 60 days of when you want to use the points to see if there is anywhere you can use them, either at Disney or on the concierge. Next biggest issue is that they will expire at the end of your current use year.

Good luck in finding somewhere to use them!
