Points from non-home resort

I am in the process of closing on a BWV resale and am new to the DVC. Re: adding on points at a DVC resort other than your home resort- what are the advantages and disadvantages vs. trying to get more points at your home resort? Do you have an 11 month window for the secong resort as well as the first? Can you only reserve the second resort at 11 months up to your available point total at the second resort, or your combined total of both home resorts?

hi: welcome to the boards and almost Welcome Home! your assumption that you only have the 11 month priority with the points from that particular resort is correct. they usually suggest that any add-ons have the same use year as your original contract to help your record-keeping, especially when it comes time to bank your points. the faq on this site does a fairly good job answering common questions. just post if you have any other questions.

Don't forget that you can bank and borrow points at your second resort to give yourself added flexibility so if your add-on contract was for 50 points you could have up to 150 points to use in a year. Then you could vacation at your other resort while you were waiting to build up points again. Hope this helps!
