Has anyone used their points to go on a cruise? Is it worth it
to use the points? Does anyone have a cruise point schedule?

While I have been on The Magic, we did not use points. The disneyvacationclub.com website has the point sheets in the member section. (the link is goofy, otherwise I would give it to you).

Unless you have a lot of points, or plan to bank and therefore not be able to use those points in a two or three year span, I would suggest paying cash.

It also depends on what type of cruise you would take. I will never be able to take anything other than the 7 day Magic.

It is a great trip, but there are a lot of cash specials so look for them first. If you have a ton of points, go for it.

We are cruising in October (3 cabins, 8 people) solely on points. We cruised Oct. 2000 same way. We bought DVC for vacations - not overly concerned about what is the best way to spend them - just "spend" on what we want to do. Besides - don't have the cash for both DVC and 7 day cruise for 8 people!!!!

We paid for last years cruise with points. We had a grand time. I would do it again in a heart beat. (Wait a minute, I am doing it again in 38 (count 'em) 38 days. :D :D :D

I have a question about cruising with points. When you look at the point chart it lists the points needed for a 7 day cruise for 1st and 2nd passenger. Does this mean that the points posted are for both people or just a per person point total? In other words, if it says 253 points for 1st and 2nd passenger does that mean 253 total for both or 506 for both? We just bought a resale at OKW and I know my DW and I will want to take a Disney cruise some day.

By the points and then adding on for each of my children it doesn't really look like that bad of a deal. I realize when you price it out as a per point dollar figure it's a lot, but hey, that's what I prepaid vacations for.

Thanks for any input...

Mickeygolf,

The points listed are definitely PER PERSON - so in your example it would be 506 points for the first two people.

Keep in mind that if necessary you can "combine" points and cash by using points for the first person in a cabin and paying either points or cash for the others.

:) :) :)
