Points Confusion, Please Help!

We bought 225 points at DVC in Feb. 2008. We had 160 Developer points. My Mom bought 75 points as an add-on to our contract a few weeks later. (We share the points). Our use year is in December.

1. The 300 points that we started with were 2007, correct? These have all been used, including the developer points except for 2 between a cruise, one night stay at AKL before cruise and 6 night trip for 2 rooms at AKL during Christmas. We have 2 2007 points left, none are bankable.

2. Whenever the cruises came out, I use 508 points to book a 1 week cruise for my Mom and my three children. I told DVC to use 2008 points (bank) and 2009 points. We should have 92 2009 points left.

3. Our cruise was actually processed on December 24 and we just got the papers last week. Nothing was showing up on the website until now.

4. I went on to look tonight and we have 300 2008 points available, with 302 total points and 300 available to bank.

5. Did MS do this incorrectly? I am getting confused. If they did this incorrectly, will they fix it or is it too late? Could 2008 points be used to pay for Janaury 2010 cruise?

6. If I bank 2008 points (that we got December 1, 2008 correct?) when do they have to be used by? I am assuming they get banked into 2009, so is November 30, 2010 the last date they can be used?

HELP!! I want to understand before I call MS.

How many points show on the website in your 2009 use year? I'm thinking they used your 2009 points because that's when the cruise falls. I've never traded out for a cruise, so I don't know if that's handled differently, but if it was a resort reservation that's what I would think.

If that's the case -- you/they (whatever) should have banked your 2008 points into 2009 and used those for the cruise reservation.

So you started off with 300 points and 235 Developer Points

Yes, your original points were 2007 points, and needed to be used or banked prior to 11/30/08. If you still have 2 of the points left, you must have banked them, or they should have expired on 12/01/2008.

Okay, so if I'm understanding this correctly, you booked a cruise for 508 points. This would mean that you used your 300 points from 2008, and 208 points from 2009. If you made the reservation prior to your 2 2007 points expiring, you would still have 94 points left in your 2009 UY.

It often takes a while for this to show up, and in our case, our cruise NEVER showed up online. DVC isn't known for their state of the art computer site, lol.

Sounds like they just haven't removed the points from your account yet. Sometimes it takes a while. What do your 2009 points look like? A quick call to MS in the morning could ease your mind...

Basically, the answer is YES, although you could have those points deposited for a trip outside of DVC, and they wouldn't expire.

As I said, my guess is that they just haven't removed the points from your account yet. They'll get to it eventually, lol. You should really call MS if for nothing else but to set your mind at ease.

What it looks like is they did not touch my 2008 points (which they were supposed to bank). I have 300 of my 300 allotted left and my 2 which were banked from 2007. They took all of my 2009 points and 208 of my 2010 points.

What they were supposed to do is bank all of my 2008 points into 2009, then use 508 points out of 2009 to pay for cruise.

There are 0 points remaining in 2009, 0 to bank, 0 to use, etc. There are 92 left for 2010.

So, they did it wrong. Will they correct it or am I stuck? I would have known sooner if it would have shown up on line earlier than 2-3 months after it was done.

That is what I told them to do and what I thought they were doing. I just hope I can get it fixed. The 2008 points, if banked will still not expire until 11-30-2010, but I really would rather have used them first.
