Points Charts

We are new to the DVC thing (aren't even in teh system yet!) but I was wondering how often they change the points charts up. I noticed between 2010 and 2011 there are some significant differences. Does this happen often?

Since the start of DVC in '91, there have been three adjustments in the points charts.

there was a significant reallocation that took place from 2009 to 2011 (one big change phased in over 2 years) which took place primarily to even out demand from weeknights to weekends. prior to the 2010 pt chart, weekend nights were roughly twice as expensive as weeknights and sunday-to-thursday stays were getting too common...so DVC reallocated the pts: weekends got cheaper and weeknights got more expensive.

but it's important to note that the total pts for each resort for the whole year stayed the same. every increase in pt costs had to be offset by a decrease somewhere else.

as noted, reallocations are historically very rare.
