Has anyone ever combined points and cash to pay for the Disney Cruise? Using all points is a killer...but so is all cash! How do you work this? Do you call DVC to get the info or is there a chart somewhere? Is there any discount on the cash price? Just looking into all my options! Thanks for a ny info...Kathy :earsboy:

We are going through the same thing right now. The best way I can see doing it is by renting out some points and pay for the cruise that way.

We did it a few years ago for a four day cruise. You just call DVC and they give you the price per person along with how many points it will cost. I have no idea on how they get the price. It was different than the DCL cash price and different from the price I received from a travel agent as well.

Kathy, we did it a couple of years ago, I used points for myself and my wife and we paid cash for the kids. The kids are a lot cheaper if they are staying in the same room with you. Depending on your situation, it may work out better for you if you purchase points from someone else versus paying cash. Good Luck Mark

Remember you have to pay all money up front when using points plus cash. There are also major limitations if you have to make changes or cancel. I'd rent out my points, IMO, the risk and aggravation of doing so is FAR less than those associated with a points DCL cruise, even it the dollars worked out otherwise, which they don't.

We have done this three times - each one different.

First cruise - 7 day - two cabins

First cabin - two people points, 1 child cash
Second cabin - two people points.

Second cruise - 7 day - two cabins

First cabin - one person points, one person cash, one child points
Second cabin - one person points, one person cash

Third cruise - 7 day - west coast - two cabins

One cabin - two people cash
Second cabin - two people points, one child points

You first get the price from DCL and from MS, also get points from MS and take it from there on what would work best for you. We did not want to use a ton of points like the first time. I love the flexibility on paying for the cruise with points/cash.
