we are planning on taking a trip down to dl and using points to stay at grand california. wondering if we have to pay any taxes or resort fee? or is it included in the points.?
It's all included. They'll ask you for a valid credit card when you check in, and you can charge things to your room which will end up on your bill. If, however, you don't charge anything to the room you'll be able to walk out of the hotel at the end of your stay and owe nothing.
Member Services should tell you if there are any charges the points don't cover when you make the reservation. Be sure to ask the desk people if they think you'll be paying for something when you check in -- when I was at the Hotel del Coronado last week, I was almost charged a daily fee but I knew that MS had told me that fee was included so I was able to get that straightened out at the beginning of the stay instead of being upset at the end of the stay. MS had also told me that a daily parking fee was *not* included with my DVC points, so I didn't contest that fee. I've never been at a hotel where they didn't explain the daily fees when you check in, so you just want to be sure that you know from Member Services what is included and what isn't. But, of my three stays at DL hotels, I've never had any charges except what I charged to the room (knowing full well that I was putting them on my credit card.)
