Does anyone think the points for BLT are very high? Do you know why? When we purchased our first, second, and third property we were told points would never change and they did change some. I'm a little worried that the more they build we won't have enough to keep going. Our kids want to stay at BLT but the points seem way to high.

Total number of points for each particular resort cannot change. As they've continued to build new DVCs there has been variation in points required to stay in various type villas, ie in Dream and Premier season a value studio at AKV is less points than a studio at OKW which previously required least points of all DVCs. And 3 bedroom THV at SSR can sleep 9 at same points cost of 2 bedroom SSR villa and 1 bedroom villas at BLT & AKV sleep 5 & their 2 bedrooms sleep 9 which can save some families points (even though BLT's points are higher) because staying at another resort may mean they'd need to go with a Grand Villa or would need to get a studio to go along with a 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom villa.

it is a monorail resort.

(BTW, have you looked at the 2010 pt charts yet?)

I took the DVC tour the other day. We are thinking of purchasing but are not sure yet.

Right now - with the point chart our guide gave us - MK view at BLT from Aug 16-30 is 333 points.

So - in 2010 will it still be 333 points or can that go up? Does it just go up for people who buy in 2010. Will my points for that particular stay always be 333 points?

there's a link to the point charts above.

in 2010, a 1BR MK view in late aug will run 334 pts for a week.

new point charts affect everyone, regardless of when you purchased.

point charts rarely change but you do need to be aware that while the total points for a resort for the year can never change, they can be reallocated (such as by increasing the point cost for a weeknight but decreasing the point cost of a weekend night...or by making early december more expensive but september cheaper.)

Yes, I think they are high! To the point where I really don't want to "spend" many of our points (220) to stay there!:scared1: I can get much more out of our contract by staying elsewhere.

I personally think it's ridiculous to have a MK points chart (plus some of the LV) higher than Concierge at AKV. JMO

AKV is far from everything. BLT walking distance to the MK with a clear, unobstructed view of the MK. Plus to keep dues lower, they have to increase the number of points required to stay there.

Don't buy exactly the number of points you need to stay for a certain time of year. Not only can they raise/lower seasons, they can raise/lower points required for a specific type of villa. So the MK view from a two bedroom villa could go way up if they reallocate those points again and the standard studio could go way down. Especially if they see that more two bedroom villas are booked than studios on a regular basis.
