I had the impression that if DCL was offering a special to cruisers that the DVC points were adjusted to reflect that discount. Is this incorrect? I talked to a DVC rep to book a cruise when the STM rates were and was told that no DVC points were not adjusted to meet this special- isn't that kind of a rip off to DVC members? I would appreciate any clarification on this...

I wish this were true, but alas it is not. The only time that points have been adjusted for DCL specials is for Fall Fantasy and only for the past two years.

All DVC point values for the cruises are negotiated in a contract. DCL may at thier option offer an additional discount, but they are not bound to change them once the contract is executed. Fall is typically the lowest season for cruises and thus DCL has decided to offer the Fall Discounts. If they see that this Fall is booking up nicely, they may not offer the DVC discount this year. (I hope I am wrong)

Please keep in mind that there is nothing that DVC can do to secure these discounts, it is solely the decision of DCL.

Robin is correct. Even with the Fall Fantasy, DVC has only offered a special with that twice in the past. So it is not a "given" that they will do that again, as well. We can only hope, but I would not hold up making a ressie in hopes of a DVC cruise special coming along..
