Points and making reservations

Does your points need to be available when you reserve or just need to be available when you take the vacation? For example, lets say I have a 100 point contract with a Sept use year and I borrowed the 2013 points for a vacation in October 2012. Let's say I want to take a vacation in October 2014, and I need to borrow points from 2015 to do so. Will I be able to make that reservation in November 2013? I assume that you can, as long as you have the points available on the date of travel, but I'm just confirming.

The points are deducted from your account when the reservation is made.

An Oct 2014 trip is in your 2014 UY, which runs from Sept 1, 2014 to Aug 31, 2015. When you call in Nov 2013 to book a Oct 2014 trip, you have access to:
-banked 2013 UY pts (if any)
-current 2014 UY pts (current based on the dates of the stay)
-borrowed 2015 UY pts (if needed).

So yes, you can call in Nov 2013 to book an Oct 2014 trip with borrowed 2015 UY pts.

Yes.

I am in my June 2012 UY right now. I have no points left for 2012 or 2013 UY.

But if I want a reservation starting after June 1 this year I can borrow from my 2014 points allotment because the trip would happen in the 2013 UY for which you can borrow from the next UY.

If I wanted to travel BEFORE June 1 2012, I would not be able to using just my points because the 2014 UY points would not yet be available.
