Points Across Use Years

I looked for this answer using the search but I did not see what I needed. Please feel free to point me in the right direction if I just overlooked it!

For reference - February UY...I currently have 0 points. On 02/01/2022 I will have 365 - 165 banked from 2021 and 200 from 2022.
Questions:
If I want to make a reservation for 01/31/2022, I would borrow points from 2022 - yes?
Would the borrowed points come out of my banked allotment or the new points?
If I want to book 3 nights (1/31-2/3) would I have to borrow points for the entire reservation?
If so, and if the borrowed allotment comes out of the new points and not the banked points...would I need to book 2 separate reservations (1/31 & 2/1-2/3) to only pull one night of points from the new points and book the other 2 nights with the banked points?

I feel like I have faced so many scenarios over the last decade of DVC but I still keep coming up with new questions! Also, this is somewhat theory as the availability fluctuates hourly for what I'm looking for. If 2/1-2/4 pops back up, it's a moot point!

Yes, you would need to borrow from your 2022 UY points. Banked points can't be borrowed.

It would be 2 separate reservations because the dates span use years. The second portion (2/1 check in) would be current to your 2022 UY so you would not need to borrow for that portion.

You cannot book across use years yourself through the website. However, you can call Member Services and they can do it for you. They would talk you through Borrowing some of your 2022 points for 1/31 and then using your banked points for the Feb dates.

You can, but have to do it as two separate reservations each with their own booking window. You would then need to contact MS to have them flagged as a Continuing Stay.

I would point out that if you are trying to book at a busy time of year at 11 months out, waiting to do two separate transactions would be risky. You may not be able to book the remaining days.

Go thru this almost every year Sept into Oct UY.

Book initial dates you need & just call MS who will correctly flush out the rest of it for you.

you will receive one reservation number, no need to have two linked

remember, borrowing is still limited to 50% of total points

I just had to do a booking crossing my use year. I have a December use year & had 84 2020 points which I’d banked into 2021 & thus had to use before 12/1/22. On 12/29/21 I booked 11/29 & 30 online which used those banked points, later that day I called MS and they added 12/1 - 12/6 to my reservation for me using 2021 points which they banked into 2022 for me, other than the long wait on the phone on hold it was easy & I had one reservation when I was done - I could have waited until the 11 month window opened on 1/1 & booked the December days online & later asked to have the reservations merged - but I was concerned that if I waited availability would disappear, so I called.
Note a few days later when I wanted to add days to the end of my vacation to reach my goal of an 11 night stay I was unable to use the modify tool online because the vacation crossed use years & I had to call MS again on 1/4 to add on the last couple of days.
