point transfer

I've booked a sun- thurs stay in Dec. and made a reservation for cash for friday and saturday instead of using points, i'm wondering if its ok to buy some transfer points if its cheaper than the room rate and then be able to use those points instead of cash. thanx for any help.

Yes, you could do that - based on availability - but you need to compare your cash rate with the number of points needed for those weekend nights. You should also see if the member discount is available thru MS for the cash nights. Weekend points are usually a little more than double weeknights so unless you can find someone willing to transfer their points for little or nothing your cash rate is likely to be a better rate.

Just do the math and compare before trying to transfer the points.

You need to confirm that your cash nights were available on points. And if there is a waitlist for those nights. You'd have to cancel the cash nights and, if they were points nights, they might open them up to the waitlist.

For December, I'm not sure there is much availability for points.
