point request question

I've never been one to plan far ahead, especially with vacation plans. I'm usually last minute in planning. When requesting points rental, I'm usually 1 to 3 weeks away from travel dates when I request points. This doesn't seem to get many offers. Is there some reason why last minute requests don't get that much attention? Living in Fla, I'd like to go to WDW for the weekend, with short notice. Is there something I'm unaware of regarding last minute requests for points? Whats a reasonable minimum time that I should be making a request?

Reservations within 1-3 weeks of arrival are not often available for DVC members who are able to plan ahead.

If someone should have points available to assist your needs and if there is availability, most would need payment in full even before making the reservation, since there are heavy penalties for members if a reservation is cancelled within 30 days of arrival.

In addition, any available DVC resort availability is turned over to CRO for reservation at 60 days prior (you may have better luck and lower rates using a FL resident's discount). DVC resort reservations use more than twice as many points for weekend nights.

There may be occasions when someone is unable to use a reservation on short notice and you may find an existing reservation within your time frame, so it can't hurt to ask.

Good luck!
