Hi Dis experts! I need some advice, please! I have arranged to rent points at HHI for an upcoming trip, enough for a GV for 5 nights!:yay: I know the person renting me the points, and feel completely comfortable doing so. The problem is this- on the morning of booking, the point owner will be working:scared1: well before 9 am, and will be unable to call at that minute for the GV-

We have come up with some possibilities, please tell me which you think is best, or if you have an even better idea!

1. Transfer of points, I pay for them all up front. This is fine, except...if a GV is unavailable, we would get 2 2bdrms, and I would not have the correct point amt to do that. I would have enough for 4 nights, with 28 pts leftover. However, then The point owner would be able to call later in the day for the last night, but I would still have 28 pts leftover.

2. The owner's DH makes the call- the DH has never made the plans before, and we're worried he might not get the URGENCY of the 9am-on-the-dot, don't-even-think-about-so-much-as-sipping-your-coffee-until-after-it's-done phonecall.

So what do you think we should do?:confused3 Help!! And thanks so much for your input-

Ellen:flower3:

How about they transfer points to you so you can make the ressies yourself?

Yes, that is one of the possibilities- just that if the GV is not available, we will have 28 pts leftover. Would I be able to then bank those points, or would they have to be used within '09?

Do a three way call with the DH that is unfamilar with planning. You can give him the general information before hand and he can do most of the talking, but if something goes wrong - you will be right there to correct.

If he is not comfortable with you getting is social sec number, which is a requirement for verification on each call, then he can call you AFTER that part is over in the call.

It is a known and acceptable thing to Member Services.

Have your friend add you as an Associate Member to their account. You make the call and book the room, then they take you off the account. Porbably works best if they are a very good friend. Best of luck -- Suzanne

If it is a close friend why not just get their membership number and last 4 of their social. Then you can call and make the reservation yourself. I've done this with a friend when we were each paying for a portion of a joint stay. I got all of the information and booked all of the dates myself.

I think it's best to transfer the points to you and then it's all in your court and you don't have to worry about them making the call.

The points will retain their home resort and use year.

If the GV is not available, you can reserve the 2-B/R's and bank the unused points. You can use the banked points later, combining them with your own points, to make a reservation somewhere at the 7-month window.

The rule is: Transferred points may be banked. However, banked points may not be transferred.

We knew you would come up with some great ideas and opinions! Not sure what we're doing yet, but our decision is certainly easier now with all your advice-:thanks: :disrocks:
