Point reallocation ?

I know that within 30 days points from a canceled reservation go into a holding account. My question is what if I reallocate points within 30 days?

What If I switch points from 1 contract to another inside 30 days? Do the points I removed from the reservation go into holding because I'm inside 30 days?

Any points freed up within 30 days of the check in day will go into holding.

I was in the same situations and got the "holding" answer when I called Member Services.

The difference is that this is a clear cut rule. One could possibly use their double secret exemption but other than that I can't think of much of a sob story that'd apply, esp when purchasing a new resale contract. And this is a situation where asking for the exception is likely to be denied. Assuming use or lose points coming in a resale contract with a short life, one might be able to structure an existing trip such that you left out the applicable number of days then try to reserve once the new points were available. Or segment the trip in some way so that you could cancel part of it or substitute part of it at a later date since the applicable timing is 31 days from THAT checkin. Maybe even cancel part or al at 31 days and hope you can get it back when the other points are available.
