Right now I own at VWL with an August UY and I booked a studio at the BC in March at the 7 month window using current UY points.

If I were to buy a contract resale at another resort (lets say BWV with the same August UY for the sake of argument) that came with banked points, could I re-allocate the points being used for the BC stay to be the new banked BWV points instead of the VWL points that I made the ressie with? That would allow me to bank my current UY points and utlize the banked points with the new purchase.

If that made any sense to you, and you can answer, TIA!

I believe I have been told that if the reservation was made at the 7 month mark (which your's was), that you can ask MS to reallocate your points to use the banked ones instead of the ones you currently have used.

The only time you can't do this is when a reservation was made during the home resort booking period. In those cases, you would have to have points from that resort to make the swap (ie: if you book VWL during the 7 - 11 month window and then want to use newley aquired BWV points, they won't let you do that).

But the definitely need to be the same UY so that the points are all part of the same member # (which, if you buy resale, needs to be titled the same way and have the same UY as the original contract--you always have to make sure the resale broker tells this to Disney).

Good luck!

And you'll have to be sure that Member Accounting roles the resale into your existing DVC Membership number, so it will have to be titled exactly the same as your existing contract. Have your broker make a note of it, too, so they remind DVC to ad it to your existing membership and not issue a new membership number. Reservations can not be re-allocated if the membership numbers are different.

I also think that this will be allowed. You would be swapping non-home resort points for different non-home resort points. Call MS. If the CM doesn't seem to be up-to-speed on the reallocation process, hang up and call back. Good luck!

It doesn't matter what your UY is or what Master contract you use, as long as there are rooms available at 7 mos you can switch out your VWL points and use your BWV points.

The OP already has the reservation made with the VWL points, that existing reservation can not be reallocated unless the they are from the same membership number. If it is a different use year or membership number, it would have to be cancelled and re-booked, if it is available.

You can ask them to reallocate and they likely will if it comes under the same master contract. If it's a different master contract, you could still make separate reservations and link them if available.

I learned something new today, I had no idea there was such a thing as point reallocation. I figured you would have to cancel a reservation and rebook at the 7 month mark to use different points. I plan on doing this in a few weeks at my 7 month mark for my May reservation.

If you are holding a reservation booked more than 7 months out using Home resort points then yes, it would be a cancellation and re-booking to get the room moved to another set of points. And if the resort is already fully booked at 7 mos with members on a waitlist, MS will probably not allow you to make the switch.

They won't arbitrarily allow members to make a reservation at 11 months and then move the trip to a different contract for the purpose of freeing up points for another 11 month booking. MS does a pretty good job of guarding against attempts to manipulate the 11-month booking privilege.

As the other posters mentioned, if the current reservation was secured less than 7 months out, they will probably make the change since the 11-month window didn't come into play.

Absolutely right, if the home resort booking window was used, they will not reallocate to use points from another resort.

True, but you can often accomplish the same thing by a day by day rebooking at the 7 month window.
