Point Donations?

With the way all our travel for summer has worked out, we'll have 95 points that we have to use by the end of this month (July) that we can't.

My airline frequent flyer programs let us donate miles to charities like Make A Wish, so I was wondering whether DVC has an arrangement where they do the same.

Anyone know?

No they don't. Unless the charity had a DVC account, they would have no way to use the points anyway.

One thing you could do is offer to make a reservation for a charity to use. Obviously, at this late date availability would be an issue, but it might work.

I don't know about Make-A-Wish, but Give Kids The World accepts donations of reservations. They can't use them for their kids due to the medical needs of the kids, so they house the kids in their own facility. However, they do use the reservations as rewards for their staff, most of whom are volunteers from the Orlando area. GKTW is a wonderful charity, and is actively supported by the DIS.

There won't be any tax deduction for donating a reservation (or donating points, if you could), but it would be a nice thing to do and much better than having them go to waste.

Optionally you could rent the points (even at this late date that is possible, especially if you do it for less than $10/pt) and donate the money. That cash donation may be deducatible - consult a tax professional.
