POFQ worth 300 more over CSR?

Is FQ worth paying 300 more over CSR and if so, why? We were going to stay at CBR but the dates and pin number do not work out for the discount. We have stayed at CSR once but it was freezing cold the week we were there so we really didn't enjoy the outside as much as we would have liked but they will be having a refurb going on this time. We have stayed at PORS and liked it but we haven't stayed at FQ. We are going when it will be warm to hot this time.

I actually prefer CSR to POFQ, so I would hesitate to pay more for POFQ. Lots of folks do enjoy the smaller size and single bus stop at POFQ, but we find a lot more value in a CSR stay.

CSR

pros:
beautiful resort with great theming (IMO, but we are from up north)
Large pool with good slide and large hot tub
business class option for a reasonable price
three different themed areas, all with their unique beauty
lots of dining options, with good food
beauty salon
fitness centre

cons:
large resort, so distant rooms can be a hike to the main building (offset by staying in preferred or BC)
convention resort, so you may see conventioneers walking around en masse or in business attire (disturbs the 'bubble' for some)
multiple bus stops (although we think this is a plus at a large resort)

POFQ

pros:
small resort
one bus stop
boat to DS
walk to POR
you haven't stayed here before and it is nice to check out different resorts

Cons:
we are not fond of the pool, good for little ones though
we feel like staying in POFQ is like staying in Ranchos at CSR - you have to walk to POR or boat to DS for pretty much everything
only one food court as a dining option
very few amenities

HTHs

either resort is great, so you will likely enjoy whichever you choose

Have a magical trip!

I would pay $300 more to stay at CSR, POFQ has zero appeal to me. The theme is hideous.

The main advantages of POFQ are the smaller size of the resort and the boat to Disney Springs. Outside of that, both resorts a pretty equivalent. CSR has more amenities and I personally love the outdoor areas. I'm a bit on the thrifty side, so $300 would pay for my airfare and/or rental car expense (depending on the available costs at the time) making the choice pretty easy.

It depends on how long you're going for. A week or more? That would be under $50 per night extra to stay at POFQ. I would do it.

I wouldn't say so. I've stayed at POR but not POFQ, I did walk over there every morning though and I've stayed at CSR (CBR as well). While CSR is most likely my least favorite moderate, $300 is $300. As a matter of fact, we are going in March and I'm doing a split stay with 2 nights at CSR and 4 nights a BWI. CSR was at least $20 less per night than any of the other moderates and in some cases, even more than that. So, would I stay there for $300 less, obviously yes I would.

Agree with PP's that POFQ advantages are single bus stop and small footprint so that even if you are in the furthest building from the lobby you still are quite close. While I do enjoy POFQ, I wouldn't stay there and spend more $ than I would at CSR. I've spent time at CSR on a couple occasions, with the most recent in December & love it- since it is a convention resort, it is more of a deluxe moderate resort since it has lots more amenities than any other Moderate does. And so many great food options.

Have a magical trip whatever you decide!

I would definitely choose POFQ for an extra $300 because of the compact size, single bus stop, and boat to Disney Springs. I may be a bit biased though since POFQ is my favorite resort :rolleyes1.

I really like both resorts, and would go with whichever is cheaper.

No way I would pay more for less.
CSR is the deluxe of moderates with extra amenities, more dining, great theme pool ...
POFQ is the moderate that has no TS dining and pool area geared for very young children.
I've stayed at POFQ on a great discount but no way I'd stay if $300 more than CSR.

PS CSR is doing room rehabs, doubtful you would be aware since they are likely closing one building at a time and not impact your stay.

Less walking, less people in the hot tub, less people by the pool, less bus stops, less waiting for food at the foodcourt.....I would pay more for less. :)

That's why I stay at the Wyndham Bonnet Creek or Hilton Bonnet Creek...I get less (waiting, less noise, less crowding, etc.) for less money. Of course the facilities are not lesser.

I've heard great things. I think I might try it one day. :)

It really depends on each person's needs and values.
What might be right for you, may not be right for me and visa versa. :goodvibes
I'm already paying inflated prices for Disney hotels so I don't want to pay even more for less.

There can be less walking yes, but I found the farthest rooms at POFQ are still quite a jaunt to the bus stop.
Having multiple bus stops at CSR a very short distance from my room is a better option for me.
In addition I had to share buses a few times at POFQ but not CSR.
I have walked farther at POFQ than CSR to buses.

YES there are less people in the hot tub because it's so small only a few fit.
My hot tub at home is about the same size.
And I hate the hot tub is removed from the pool so to go back and forth means trekking down the walkway.
CSR is I think biggest on property and never had to sit near anyone (other than my family).

Well, I've never seen CSR pool crowded and always lounges but that was not the case at POFQ.
Doesn't matter the pool does not appeal to us (all adults), I don't like total sun,
and I am past being around tons of small children.

Food Court ......... not sure that one works.
I have waited longer for food at POFQ than any other moderate.
Not sure current menu with rehab but previous menu was limited and meh.
CSR may take a few minutes longer than average but the meals are more like a TS,
and always gotten bigger portions. AND I have MANY dining options at CSR, 5 as opposed to 1.

Love WBC and we absolutely get MORE for LESS.
More room, more beds, more bathrooms, laundry and kitchen, more pools, more slides, more lazy rivers, more activities .....

Darn, now you have me looking up rates there .............. :surfweb:

I don't think it's our needs and values that are so different. :goodvibes

It just sounds like we've had opposite experiences.....especially in regards to the pool and hot tub and the walking, and the waiting for food. Well, I guess in every way really. :rotfl:

Haha - beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. :flower1:

But that is a good thing, can you imagine if we all wanted to stay at the same place?

Exactly! :thumbsup2

Infact, sometimes I don't know why I recommend a place. Do I really want it to fill up? No way!
Maybe I'll recommend CSR from now on.

I like it. Grounds are beautiful. Small and easy to navigate. Boat to DTD. Good bus service. Try it! :joker:

I've also had good luck with the (small) food court. Everyone has always been pleasant and extra courteous.

SO MANY times folks ask a question and I'm thinking ... oh, we have a great spot or way or time etc. ..... and then I'm think .... oh, I don't want to let that out, especially if I never saw someone talk about it. DS always telling me to shush! :ssst:

Your son is smart. Me? Not so much. I couldn't even resist liking what Eastern said in post number 18. :hyper:
