Hi all. I'm taking the family to WDW and staying at the POFQ for 6 days. I've never ever seen the place except for pictures while booking from the disney site. We chose to stay there because it was an upgrade to the Pop which we were planning on staying. We got ecited because we've been hearing that a lot of people like POFQ.

So do you guys like POFQ better than POR? Is this place gonna be hoppin? Or is the reason that there were rooms still availible there because the place stinks?

What you will find is a beautiful and relaxing resort with a great pool, easy access via boat to DTD and southern charm throughout. POR and POFQ tie in my book for favorite moderate. The fishing hole is great and the horse drawn carriage around the resort is wonderful.

Enjoy!

You can expect... to have a good time!

We've stayed there twice and loved it. It is compact enough that everything (pool, Food Court, etc.) is very close by. It shares some buses with POR, but POFQ is usually the first pickup and dropoff on those.

The themeing is great, and we liked the food at the FC a lot.

There are also many other 'pluses': the nice walk (you can also take a boat) to POR, where you can rent boats and bikes, and also use their FC and pool; and the boat to DTD.

Some like POR better, but I prefer POFQ because it's not as 'spread out' as POR.

Have fun!

You can expect...to fall in Love! With the resort, that is. It is my favorite moderate and I cannot think of anything remotely negative about it. We became DVC members this year so no more long-term stays at POFQ for us, but I do plan to stay there some weekend nights to save on DVC points.

Excellent resort. Very compact. The pool is very neat. Gotta try the beignets at Sassagoula. Speaking of which, it is a CS. If you want TS, you need to go to POR or DTD.

I have not stayed at POR, but I have stayed at POFQ twice - albeit several years ago. But I enjoyed it so much that when it came time to choose a resort for an onsite stay in October - it was my first choice! (and I got it)

POFQ is my resort of choice. won't stay anywhere else if i can help it.

I am so glad to here everyone's positive comments. We are having a Grand Gathering there the end of November.

Although we have been to WDW about 6 times, I have never seen PORS or POFQ in person. I chose POFQ because we are taking the kids and grandkids, and couldn't afford a deluxe. I seemed the best of the moderates to me.

Like the other posters, I have nothing but praise for POFQ. It's my favorite themed resort at the World. The boat road to Downtown Disney is a lot of fun!. We also enjoyed looking for our friend, "Mr. Bunny," on the grounds every evening at dusk.

Haven't stayed there yet (actually, have never stayed on the property), but I will be for my honeymoon in October. Pretty much everyone I have spoken to has said that I picked a great place for the honeymoon. It's romantic, very atmospheric and compact so we won't feel like we're walking a marathon to get to the bus stop, etc. I'm also really excited about the carriage rides, the nice walk to POR, the peacefulness and the boat rides to DTD. I'm really looking forward to staying here, and I have a feeling that I'll be staying here again.

You will love POFQ. I have stayed there 4 times!! I first picked it because of its small size, knowing I would walk enough at the parks. Now I can't imagine staying anywhere else. Be sure and take the boat to DTD. Have a great trip!!

We stayed at the Port Orleans when it was still seperate from Dixielandings back in 1998.

My DH and I enjoyed it so much that when we booked our upcoming DCL cruise and needed a place to stay the night before, neither one of us hesitated in choosing POFQ. We are looking forward to taking the boat to DTD and introducing our DD to the pool and serpent slide. :cool1:

You'll love it too! :)

I married a man who pretty much doesn't have an opinion on anything. Or if he does, it's a mystery to me. But, while we were at POFQ last year, he commented that he really liked it and wouldn't mind staying there every time we go. (I want to check out the other mods, so CBR is it for our 2007 trip. CSR will never next, but not sure when that may be.)

Wow! Thanks for all the terrific replies everyone! I knew we'd have a great time anyway but these responses make me even more excited to go. I can't wait to go to DTD on the boat! It's good to hear that everything is close to each other so as to save most of the walking for the parks

Thanks again!

PS
I showed the kids pictures of the pool and serpent slide and they can't stop talking about it now!

We are a family of 5, and POFQ was the wise choice for us. We'll be going in December. After reading all the wonderful comments from posters, it makes it even more special. WE can't hardly wait! :cool1:

cheers,

Alex in CR!

We will be spending Christmas vacation at POFQ. I'm so excited. We were there in February and thought it was a great resort. I thought the boat ride from Downtown Disney was great. The resort is beautiful.

It's a nice place once you get used to the rats. Lots of vagrants, but they are easy enough to step over j/k :rotfl2:

Best mod they have. My only complaint was that check out seemed to take way too long. Everything else was top notch!

I stayed there the end of March this year and for the price it was perfect. Plus, my room was ready when I got there at 11am. The food court is nice and close to all the buildings, so refilling your mug is not a hassle at all.

When I would leave my room in the morning to go to the parks I would make sure my drapes were open so they could see no one was inside, and when I'd return after lunch my room was always clean.

And after a lot of walking in the parks, it's nice that the walk from the buses to the rooms wasn't long at all.

The hot tub is in a separate alcove away from the pool which made it much more relaxing, although it did fill up in early evening when everyone wanted to sooth their tired legs.

My building was right by the boats, and you must take the boats to DTD because then you get to see the Treehouses. I found the line for the boats back was very long so would take the bus back from DTD.

The walk to POR is nice, especially in the morning. You must do it at least once and eat breakfast at Boatwrights, yumm.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Thanks for all the suggestions. We'll definitely try the boat ride to DTD, probably the first day we get there since it'll be a waste to use a park ticket by the time we arrive. Breakfast at Boatwrights sounds good too! I can't wait to experience something new at Disney!

POFQ is a nice resort. However, it is more relaxing and quiet then Pop. I like Pop better because it is more fun and reminds me of one of the parks. It really depends if you want a more relaxed and serene atmosphere or a party like atmosphere.
