I have reservations already for POFQ in Jan. After spending the weekend in just a double bed, (we have been sleeping in a King for over 10 yrs) I am thinking of upgrading to WL for the queen beds. Is there anythign else that I should take into account? I know that I can open my windows at WL with out having people walk by and seeing into my room? Is the room itself bigger? Id the food court better?

Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated

Thanks Dave

Brief response, I'm certain more will follow.

Room size is 315sf at PO and 340sf at WL. Yes, interior corridors at WL, so you will have no one walking by when you are on your balcony. Actually, I think WL has one of the weaker food courts, but that's just one opinion.

Other plusses include boat service to MK, two great full service restaurants and the electric water pagaent.

more to come from others for certain...

I wouldn't say WL has a food court. Two sit down restaurants and a snack bar. There rest of WL's benefits dapend on how much time you are there. INHO WL is the most stunning WDW resort. I also would rather avoid buses as much as possible which you can do at WL. I also like having everything in one building.

We won't spend a ton of time at the resort but we are traveling with a 6yr old this time and will go a little slower. We will have a car so if we are going to anything but the MK I will drive. A Balcony and not just windows? WOW was not expecting that.

Please keep the comments coming they are helping me justify the extra money (eheheh)

Thanks Dave

I checked out WL along POFQ for our 2004 trip and believe me it was very hard to choose. The look of the WL is unbelieveable. The perks of avoiding busses to MK is very very good. depending on your room view you can see wishes at night, but at the very least you will hear it. I have heard/read the counter service at the snack bar/food court is a little left to be desired.

The interior corrdors plus private balconies are all good plusses. A very good choice indeed for a Disney trip.

I used to have room #'s that could see the fireworks but cannot find them at this time. Maybe some other posters can put them up if they have them...

Where do I begin.........Roaring forks is not huge but has a good assortment of food and we have not found it to be wanting as a food court goes. it is convenient and we think faster than most. Being able to go get your drinks and or breakfast without going outdoors is a plus. The electric water parade goes by every night. You do not see that at POFQ. The balconies are so neat and relaxing. The Whispering Canyon is great for fun as well as food. The brook in the lobby flows down into the pool and is so relaxing to sit on the porch and watch. The childrens activities are plentiful. You can boat to Ft Wilderness for breakfast if you like. That is one of the nicest bargains around and fun too. You can go to the petting zoo there as well. You can sign up to be a flag family. I could go on and on..My hubby and I LOVE the Lodge. I am sure you will too. Forgot to say there is a pool, 2 spas, and a children's pool as well.:wave2:

Just returned from another great stay at WL. When booking this trip, we thought about trying Riverside, but just couldn't stay away from the lodge! On one of our bus "adventures" we were able to drive thru Port Orleans and it seemed VERY spread out. Very difficult when traveling with DS (4). We like that the rooms are all connected at WL. During Jeanne they wouldn't let us leave the hotel, but the lobby had lots of activities for the kids, just a short walk down the hall to the elevator. No going outside for anything!

I have stayed at POR (back when it was known as Dixie Landings), POFQ and WL. POR/FQ are lovely, but you just can't compare them to WL. It is my favorite Disney resort. We stayed there for the first time last month. When I stay at a Disney value or moderate resort, I feel like I am removed a little from the magic because I have to take a bus to get to the parks. When I was at WL I felt like I never really left MK because I knew it was just a boat ride away. It is so nice having a balcony in the room, which you don't get a moderate or value resort. I love having everything right there in one building. You can easily walk to Roaring Fork for a quick snack, meal or to refill your mug. I would not call Roaring Fork food court, but rather a quick service eatery. The food courts at the moderates are much bigger and serve a wider variety of food. Roaring Fork has a good selection of food. (By the way, if you do stay there, try the Magic Bars. They are delicious! I think I ate one every day!) Whispering Canyon Cafe at WL is fabulous! It can get a little rowdy, but it is a blast! The boat ride to MK is fabulous, especially if you are traveling with small children. It is such a nice and relaxing ride. The pool and courtyard at WL are just beautiful. There is also a small beach area with a playground for kids. You can watch the Electric Water Pagaent from there at night. WL is a magical place!
