Anyone been to both? What were your thoughts and pros and cons of each?

What are the biggest differences and tips and tricks?

you are comparing the smallest (POFQ) to one of the largest (CSR). One is really spread out - it is a convention hotel so has a gym and salon. You might have a very long walk to the food court (it is different) or restaurant.
f
POFQ is small in comparison - it does have a food court - but no restaurant - you can walk to take the boat to POR to use that restaurant.

both have nice pools. POFQ is for a younger group than CSR (my opinion)

We've been to all the mods and always choose CSR! Size is the biggest difference as mentioned above, CSR is HUGE and if you are further than casitas 1 (we never are), then you will need to use the internal bus system to use your mugs and such. Their pool area is 100x better and I just love it for walking around or renting a surrey bike and having a resort day.

POFQ has a romantic feel and though it is still a large resort, the décor has a way of making it more intimate. I love the restaurant here more but I love the food court at the CSR tons more.

I happen to love them both for different reasons, but if for instance I was offered a free trip and I could pick from either, I would choose POFQ. Love the décor of both but in the end the size of POFQ wins out, along with the boat to Disney Springs and the one bus stop. Yes, POFQ only has a food court but we generally are quick service eaters on visits where we are doing a lot of park time, so for us that is fine.

POFQ is the smallest. (If you are hoping for TS or extra amenity then you will be walking to POR next door and it would be longer walks than at CSR.)

CSR is actually the next smallest but it certainly bigger than POFQ. There is no internal bus at CSR, just the regular bus that goes around. (CBR has internal). I often stay in Ranchos, considered the farthest from main hub and the walk is 5-7 minutes tops unless we stop to enjoy the landscape or critters in lake.

POFQ has the least number of amenities and CSR has the most of the moderates.

It depends on what you are looking for theme wise, amenity wise, dining wise, if kids their ages ...

Our opinion:
- POFQ has nice rooms, curtains to bathrooms built around NOLA style courtyards
- LOVE NOLA style on the outside but completely opposite the real NOLA in energy
- POFQ is a very quiet sedate resort
- POFQ pools is designed very much for young children with simple slide and great splash pad play area
- POFQ hot tub is not much bigger than one in my backyard
- POFQ has a small food court, no table service
- POFQ has a single bus stop but the farthest rooms still have a walk
- POFQ has the boat to DS which is great

- CSR has nice rooms (going through rehab now), doors to bathrooms built in three distinct themes
- LOVE the varied themes, gorgeous landscaping and walking around is a treat
- CSR is beautiful day or night with the feel of a high end resort
- CSR pool is one of the best, highly themed, one of the longest slides, playground & arcade at pool
- CSR has one of largest hot tubs on property, beach volleyball, quick service, mug refill - all at pool
- CSR has multiple TS, QS and bar options and multiple refillable mug locations
- CSR has four bus stops but is centrally located and most feel some of the best bus service on property
- Buses are set up in way that no room has a long walk to buses

CSR is actually the second smallest mod (FQ, CSR, POR, then CBR).

FQ: Compact, one bus stop (but sometimes shares with POR), new kiddie play area, boat to DSp, almost always excluded from discounts

CSR: Convention resort that offers "deluxe lite" amenities (spa, fitness center, nightlife, option of BC); Dig Site pool has drink refills, longest mod slide, and biggest hot tub; and central location leads to some of the best busing

my stay here was a while ago - don't remember any nightlife????

My two favorite moderates! Which one I choose depends on what type trip I am taking. POFQ is my go to for a long weekend in Disney. We aren't going to be there long, so we will be doing a good bit of park time. It is very convenient and has good bus service. I also love the boat ride to Disney Springs. The small resort is just so nice for running to the food court in the mornings/evenings, etc and the theme is very relaxing after long park days!

CSR is my week long vacation resort. The pool area is amazing (not so much for POFQ). I also enjoy taking an afternoon to get pedicures at the spa or a massage. The bus service here is also always great, but there is a little more walking involved. I am fine with this in order to get those great amenities.

You really can't go wrong with either place, but I tend to end up at POFQ in the winter when I won't be having pool time and CSR when I am going to want to spend my afternoons lounging by the pool. I absolutely love both of them!

CSR also offers business class rooms with access to the Coconino Lounge, This category comes with rooms in cabana 9b which greatly reduces the worry of size for CSR.

Also CSR has a bus that is considered their internal bus. It goes to all four bus stops, then to Blizzard Beach and back to all four bus stops. And their park buses go in this order (2, 3, 4, and then 1) and Disney Springs go in this order (1, 2, 3, and then 4) in order for guests to use the buses to get around the resort.

We've stayed at both and prefer POFQ for the size. CSR is huge and spread out and really inconvenient in my opinion to use a refillable mug or eat at the food court. The internal bus is a pain, it seemed to take forever for buses to show up most mornings and I have to wonder if it wasn't because they were splitting them between stops because most times the bus was too full to stop at El Centro and would just go straight to the parks (sometimes the bus driver would ask if anyone wanted to get off at El Centro and sometimes they just bypassed it). CSR is nice but we didn't care for the theme (we also got put in Ranchos) and our room seemed pretty run down, bathroom doors off track, stains on ceiling. We were missing FQ when at CSR in September.
