POFQ V OLD KEY WEST (POINTS RENTAL)

Starting to plan our trip for next year. We usually stay at the moderate resorts with an occasional lower end deluxe thrown in. Was considering renting DVC points to get into a deluxe while spending a little less money. Old Key West sounds very nice, but other then possible walking distance to Disney Springs how does it compare to a moderate such as POFQ? What makes it different?

You get a kitchenette and a balcony. The OKW pools are nicer than POFQ's. The table service restaurant at OKW is supposed to be quite good.

On the flip side, as a points rental you won't get daily housekeeping. You'll want to be sure to bring your own toiletries and be conscious about hanging your towels.

We considered both of these options and decided on French Quarter because it's more compact.

OKW is much larger and spread out than POFQ. You could be pretty far away from the main pool, restaurant etc.
We love it there. It is really a condo style resort themed in Key West colors. Most buildings are 3 stories and do not have elevators. Studios will have 2 Queen beds, a small table & 2 chairs and a kitchenette area with a small refrigerator, a microwave, toaster, and coffee maker.
As @_auroraborealis_ said point rentals do not have daily Mousekeeping. For stays 7 nights or less you will get the trash emptied, towels replaced and supplies replenished on day 4. If you need more than that you can pay for additional service.
Be sure you understand the limitations of point rentals. Most owners do not allow cancellations or itinerary changes. Payment is due sooner etc. You enter a contractual relationship with an owner. Owners can start booking Villas 11 months in advance. Villas can be fully booked during DVC high season which is Fall through most of January.
