Going in Janurary, Family of 3. POFQ, POR, CBR and CS are all around the same cost and in our budget. Is the sky liner going to be worth staying at CBR or are the others mentioned better and why?

Young child, adult family? Expectations for parks?
All good resorts for varying reasons.

I am not a big bus fan, so if I were not going to have a car, the Skyliner would be very alluring to me. It will be very efficient for Epcot and DHS and you don't have to worry about cramming onto a bus with a bazillion other people. However, I wasn't impressed with the rooms at CBR. The renovated rooms at CSR look better. I felt like the rooms at CBR were dark, didn't care for the orange/tan scheme (I wish they had kept the previous brighter colors honestly), half our USB ports were no longer working, no storage under-bed, etc. They were perfectly serviceable and clean and our stay was totally fine, but prices at CBR are going up because of the Skyliner and to me, those rooms don't reflect an increase in price point. Maybe they will get a refurb soon (their last refurb was 2014/2015). Some people in a CBR FB group I'm in are paying almost $320/night at high season! But if you are just there to sleep and shower, it probably doesn't make much difference what color the room is. I really enjoyed the small footprint at POFQ and the theming of the buildings. I've never stayed at POR but we did walk there for dinner and I enjoyed the atmosphere there too.

So it kind of depends on what's important to you.... a lot of dining options at the resort? Probably CSR, there's the new tower with restaurant, the new restaurant over the water, etc. Small footprint/less walking? POFQ.... Boat ride to Disney Springs for dinner? POFQ or POR.... Skyliner access? CBR. If it were myself personally and I had a rental car, I'd choose CSR or POFQ (neither of which I can actually do IRL anymore because I have 3 kids). If I had no car, that's a toughie.

Or maybe I'd go crazy and do a split stay and stay CBR for my Epcot/DHS days and CSR for the others. Luggage transfer makes this relatively simple.

I'm making the leap from POFQ (which we love) to CBR for our trip in January. It's the Skyliner to HS and EPCOT. If I can avoid the bus for those 2 parks, I'm in! I will say though, we LOVE POFQ, the small size is awesome. My son loves the pool and slide. I am looking forward to more onsite food options and I'm sure my son will love the pool at CBR!

Also considering a switch to Caribbean Beach for my next trip. The Skyliner is just so convenient and for my money Sebastian's Bistro is the best non-signature resort restaurant on property.

Note: we DO NOT rent a car and rely solely on Disney transportation;

POR, POFQ, CBR. ONLY if Skyliner has its act together - in that order. I would NOT Stay at CBR without Skyliner!
CS I can't rate - never been there

I love the theming and the pool at POR. POFQ is also very nice but the pool is not as nice UNLESS you have very small kids, then the splash pad there would put it over. The buses have always been very reliable for us at both of those. The boat BACK FROM DS we have found is a very nice feature, though we've always found the line to get on the boat TO DS to be too long - better off on the bus.
CBR is dated, but the pool is nice. It is very spread out and the buses were a complete waste of time when we tried to stay there. It has an internal bus and the theme park buses. Both took far too long. Knowing the CBR layout, you likely need to take an internal bus to get to the Skyliner, so that won't fix all of the bus problems, but will help. Would seriously consider AoA and POP over CBR no matter what.

We have stayed at all the moderates. For POR, we love the food court and find the grounds to be beautiful. POFQ is our least favorite - cute theme, but because its so small, all the common areas felt busy. Particularly at the single bus stop. We love the boat to Disney Springs, but its not fast. A bus will take just as long from another resort.

Love CSR and enjoy the food court here as well. Also my favorite main pool at the moderate level. The theme is great and the added benefit of the additional lounges and TS options are great and make it feel closer to the deluxe level. We've not been since the tower opened, but my one con with this resort is that convention attendees/business travelers burst my Disney vacation bubble. We've never had a problem with them, but as someone who also travels for work, I just would rather be around vacationing families than solo business travelers taking conference calls and working on laptops next to me.

We've not stayed at CBR since the Skyliner opened, but we did just stay at AOA and the Skyliner is a game changer for us. We loved everything about it, and honestly can't picture NOT staying at Skyliner resort going forward. We booked a bounceback offer at CBR for April. The biggest con of CBR to me is the size of the resort - there's potential for a long walk to the main building and/or Skyliner depending on where your room is, but its a risk I'm willing to take for the convenience of the Skyliner. CBR is really the most convenient of the Skyliner resorts, given that riders don't need to transfer there with the station being the main hub.

POR has always been our fav resort. Landscape and theming are beautiful. Great food court. Love strolling along the river. Evening entertainment and carriages going by add to the atmosphere. Boat to DS. Sure it’s longer than a bus but I’m on vacay and it’s the journey not the speed. So much more enjoyable.
But next trip I booked CBR. Curious about skyliner. We’ve stayed there before years ago and we enjoyed it. Location will make or break your stay. Take a look at resort map to help make room requests.

I've stayed at all 4 - here are some pro and cons of each:

POFQ - pro: size, boat to DS, theme
POFQ - con: no TS

POR - pro: pool, QS & TS locations, boat to DS, theme
POR - con: size

CSR - pro: Gran Destino Tower, pool, dining options
CSR - con: location

CBR - pro: Skyliner, new dining options
CBR - con: size

We've stayed at POR several times and are fans of the Bayou section. I like the pool bar set up ( easy to see the pool and plenty of seating ) we also like to see Yeehaw Bob.

If I could get a Gran Destino room, I'd probably pick this one as the new Tower seems awesome!

Saw a new post today about guests having trouble on the Skyliner. So I wouldn't include that yet as a perk, not until Disney can run it for long stretches without people being stuck on it.

I've stayed at all 4, and would rank them CSR, POR, POFQ, CBR. With CBR being the only one I wouldn't hurry back to. POR and POFQ have the advantage of the boat to Disney Springs, if you plan to visit that at all. CSR has a bit more of an adult feel to it, but the pool slide is the longest of the moderate resorts.

If you care about the rooms being modern and updated it has to be CSR. The CBR rooms are plain BAD. POR and POFQ received a mild refresh but nothing like the CSR room updates.

The rooms at CBR were redone too.
