POFQ or CSR

Looking at staying at a moderate for the first time. What do you like better Coronado or POFQ? Where is the food better? I really love the decor at CSR and the big resort feel. POFQ is nice too, does POFQ have a hot tub? So many questions

I went to POFQ last september, and I'm going next week to CSR.

What I could say about POFQ is:

- the food in POFQ is not good, because you only have a small food court.
- POFQ has a hot tube
- if I'm not wrong, this is the smallest resort in disney

What I think about CSR:

- the food will be better, because you have more restaurants, including table-service restaurants
- CSR also has hot tube
- the resort is bigger than POFQ, what brings you more options to eat, to do, and to entertain

I love the theming at CSR and the pool. I don't like the long walk to the food court and the 10% gratuity if you eat inside.
I've never been to FQ. The reason we haven't stayed there is b/c my girls and I are creeped out by the big mardi gras figures in the food court!

If you love the big resort feel, I'd say go for CSR. We've stayed at both CSR and POFQ, and like both equally. CSR is definitely much more spread out and very nicely themed. You may also see some convention people there, as they have a convention hall of sorts in the resort. The pool is fabulous. But with a bigger resort also comes more walking time to get to the pool, Disney transportation, etc.

We like POFQ for different reasons - very quaint theming, smaller resort, easy to get around, a nice boat ride away from Downtown Disney. And yes, I agree about the crazy mardi gras faces in the food court!

We did try the restaurant at CSR, admittedly nothing stands out good or bad. I do remember the service being a little slow though.

I've stayed at both and like POFQ much better. We DIDN'T like the big feel of CSR, though, so maybe you'd like that better! The buses always seemed so much more crowded and zoo-like than at POFQ. We also didn't care for the food court at CSR. But the pool area is really great, and we did like landscaping. I feel like the staff at POFQ are more attentive and personable.

I think if you like the larger resorts, CSR would be a good fit. If you're looking for a smaller, more intimate experience, POFQ can't be beat!

i've stayed at both (POFQ in 2010 and CSR in 2012). although i enjoyed the small scale of POFQ, i preferred the expansiveness of CSR. i would definitely pick CSR if i went back to a moderate, for these reasons:

-i think the CSR rooms are nicer (though i haven't been to POFQ post-renovation).
-better theming (especially the pool -- i loved the dig site).
-the pepper market (if you're on the dining plan, the lunch/dinner buffet is a great use of a counter service credit).
-the health club
-the lake is really nice (especially if you're a jogger, or like to take a late-night stroll).
-the hammocks along the lake.
-i found the bus service a little bit better -- maybe because CSR doesn't share a bus with POR.

i'm sure you'll have a great time either way!

There's really no comparison in these 2 resorts. MaYbe POR and CSR ...

POFQ is sooo much more compact... Sorta claustrophobic if u ask me... One pool...which is geared to smaller kids....1 food court, no TS rest. 1 bus stop...

Now CSR on the other hand, it feels like a deluxe. 2nd or 3rd best main pool with slide on all WDW properties IMHO. Awesome giant hot tub.... Theming is second to none. Cafe Rix, lounge, pepper market, TS restaurant 4 personal bus stops 3 pools. And the BEST Bus service of all resorts IMHO.

The thing that I don't get is why everyone is upset about a mere buck per person that you end up paying to the servers at the PM.... When we are all spending anywhere from $2,000 to $4000 is a couple of bucks more OOP really going to kill us....They actually get u seated and get your drink for you 1st that way when you get your food, there's no Hassle to try n find a seat while your food gets cold.( like at the traditional food courts) also no stopping to g!et your utensils napkins n drinks.... Very small price to pay for this lil luxury.

Just an FYI that there is no longer a breakfast/lunch buffet at Pepper Market, but the new menu looks good.

The Maya Grill at CSR is also fantasic. We weren't planning on it, but ended up eating 3 meals there because the first was so good we cancelled 2 ADRs to enjoy more Maya

And yes, the resort is beautiful, and the pool is amazing.

And if you book something in the Cabanas section, you are super close to the main building anyway, which gives you the advantages of the smaller resort, while having the benefits of the big beautiful CSR

Also, the CMs there were fantastic. I saw a PP mentioned that they were not, and that was not our experience at all, 9 days there, and they were awesome.

So much to think about. They both sound like they have good and bad. We always stay at a Value resort and are considering a mod for the first time.So far we have been too ASM and POP. If they offer a free dining with table service for mod we might book it instead of POP with QSD. So far think I am leaning towards CSR.

I forgot to ask, the pepper market is the QSD location? We have to tip the server? How does it work on the DDP?

It used to be when u were done they just subtracted the amount of as credits from what u have left. Regardless of kid or not. Meaning If u have kids there was never a distinction between adult meal n kid meal. At least this was what we experienced. Also WE usually just left $5 on the table once we were done...Now it has changed a lil so I've heard but I still TBI k the premise is still the same.

CSR is absolutely beautiful.

The main pool is amazing, slide is the best, and the hot tub is gigantic. The beds are queens (awesome) and super comfy. Many have stated that of all the mods, CSR feels close to a deluxe.

I am another who is way too creeped out by those big mardi gras heads over at PO. Eeeewww.

That was me. Not that anybody was rude or anything like that! We just felt like we got better, more friendly service at POFQ. Then again, we only stayed at CSR one time, several years ago, so I'm sure with staff turn-around, service is probably fine most of the time
